What is this?

Thanks for answering. Is it working for both directions ? I mean should we expect to see our tracks on Shutterstock or it’s only one way direction?

Thx for the answer, get well!

How many tracks from PremiumBeat will be uploaded?

It is concerning since music on Elements is becoming heavily over-saturated due to increased number of invited authors. In other words there are so many tracks that our earnings are constantly decreasing. And now there will be even more tracks.

I understand that the purpose is to increase the quality of EE music. IMHO the biggest problems are in EE system (e.g. lack of albums, focusing on single tracks, lack of “artistic presentation” of authors (we are almost anonymous), filtering and search engine). IMHO flooding Elements with thousands of single tracks will have only a small impact on the quality. However, it will definitely decrease our income (which will kill creativity need for the authentic music creation). We need more music like Epidemic Sound but we also need it to be presented like it is presented on Epidemic Sound.

How will all this help us earn more? Thanks to all the new features, I have one sale per month. And that’s if I’m lucky…

I wish you a speedy recovery! I hope you will inform us soon about your plans to restore earnings.

Probably, these new updates are the reason why my elements income is going down dramatically. This month is gonna be 40% less than usually. And I’ve been on Elements for 4 years. This never happened before.

Epidemic sound is crap, they don’t take authors who are part of a PRO, they even give you advice on how to get out of it. So it’s not a reference.

You got me wrong. I wrote about the way albums, tracks and artists are presented on Epidemic Sound website (and Artlist which is very similar). I did not wrote about attitude towards authors, which is bad in my opinion, just like you said.

Giving away PRO rights is the worst idea for musicians because PROs are the only institutions which care about our rights and royalties. Without it, we would be even more, hardcore-extremely exploited by the music buisness.

Visibility of our titles almost zero when premiumbeat arrives with 3000 tracks the same day.

It has more than 7000 tracks now. Worth to mention that PremiumBeat owns its tracks so it doesn’t have to pay author share to its authors. PremiumBeat and Envato both belong to Shutterstock so…

In other words Shutterstock uploads its own tracks on Envato so it can earn both: Envato and author share. Good for him.

Imagine when they roll out those 8K tracks (well, 8K to date) to Elements…

I have the impression that ENVATO SHUTTERSTOCK is trying to save the furniture before bankruptcy, because in view of the market which is seriously ill since the appearance of sites like suno and many other AI sites, human stock music no longer has a future.

EDIT: 9k and counting

PremiumBeat has around 60k tracks… @KingDog, do you know if the idea is to merge the entire catalog? (don’t want to bother Ben… I see he’s still out sick :frowning: )

Heya. Yeah it’s been a sick week, thanks for thinking of him! I don’t have any details to share yet but our team has definitely been aware and talking over it.

Hi all. Thanks for your patience - I’ve been out sick for a lot of the last week, but I’m back at work again and catching up on all the discussions I’ve missed.

I’m going to address the Elements-specific questions in the Elements Audio Update forum, as that’s a better area to continue that discussion in detail. I realise that some of the people in this thread aren’t selling on Elements, and I apologise for cutting the conversation in half - but future developments for that platform are something that we’ll cover in a private thread with the authors selling there.

@WormwoodMusic As I understand it, that count includes a lot of content that doesn’t fit into the categories on our site - for example, their library includes things like instrument stems. I’m not sure of the total numbers of items involved, but it should be significantly less than that.

A post was merged into an existing topic: Elements PremiumBeat discussion

didn’t know that. how’s that deal? they buy full rights from authors paying a flat fee? authors renounce to their cid and pro royalties? i noticed that premiumbeat’s has its own CID admin (shutterstockmusic)

Good afternoon. How can I join the “Elements PremiumBeat discussion” topic? I am a new Elements author.

Yep. 600$ per track, if I remember correctly. The only way authors can earn more is the income from PRO royalties (this is the industry trend unfortunately, that’s why we need to allow broadcast use in Elements). Actually Premiumbeat can be efficient in collecting royalties because they manage publishing PRO share 50% (that’s not good) and I’ve heard that they actively claim commercials in PROs (that’s very good but I did not not confirm if this is true).

About CID - I do not know but I expect that all stocks will lunch their own CIDs sooner or later. Why? Because there is a lot of money. You’re saying that Shutterstock collects PremiumBeat CID too? Guess who’s gonna be next… And yes, I suppose that Shutterstock keeps 100% of cid royalties.

Mmm, I might be wrong. This is how all PB tracks details look:

So there’s a contributor, who apparently keeps 100% of the composition rights, and a CID management by Orfium - ShutterstockMusic. I’m not sure how that part works; whether Orfium and SS have simply partnered while still sharing CID revenue with the contributor, or if it’s split entirely between Orfium and SS. No idea.

And yes, Envato has publicly stated its intention to provide its own CID service. Personally, I wouldn’t jump on that boat aside from my contractual bond with Identifyy for two more years. Also, my experience with them has been pretty good so far.
