What’s your country of residence?
I’m on the same boat? any help guys… I’m from the uk … i don’t have a tax identification number? how do we go about this…
I live in Denmark
Then you’re in luck! Denmark has a tax treaty with the US so that you don’t have to pay any tax if you fill out the W8 form.
So basically… if you don’t fill out the W8 form, then you’ll have 28% withheld from all sales.
If you do fill out the W8, but don;t include a tax ID number, then you’ll have 30% withheld on all US sales and 0% on all non-US sales.
If you fill out the W8 and include a valid tax ID number, then you won’t get anything withheld on any sales.
If you pay taxes currently, then you should have some kind of tax ID. That’s what you add in the foreign ID box on the W8. If you don;t have and can’t get a tax number, then you should apply for an ITIN.

If you pay taxes currently, then you should have some kind of tax ID. I got mine from logging into the self assessment website, it;s a 10 digit number. I’m hoping that’s the right one anyway, maybe you can get away with a National Insurance number. Probably not though. Anyway, that’s what you add in the foreign ID box on the W8. so if i dont fill out a w8. on a 6$ flyer what do i get to keep
I’m pretty sure that would be $1.72
if i spent 15 hours or more doing a flyer and by some miracle i got 100 sales in a year. that one flyer would of earned me. £2.16 a week after the deductions. if that flyer sold 25 in a year, which is more likely, i would of earned for my 15 hours work, roughly 55 pence a week. which is laughable. well , im not even a graphic artists. i learned photoshop, cinema 4d and bit of after effects just as hobby/fun like i did unix and linux/ so i managed 72 sales here. so its very easy for me to say good bye to envato.
What is going on? I filled the form and submitted it. Now i got email to fill form… so i need to fill it again? Seriously?
If i am an American citizen…do i need to do anything? I already filled out a tax form long ago.
hey there thanks a lot for the info… can you post link for self assessment website cheers
In short.
If you don’t have tax number, if you are not a US citizen and if you don’t fill up W8 form with tax number, you will have to pay to US government 28% of each US sale.
Is that correct?
thanks a lot
So if I am from the Isle of Man, I will always have to pay the US tax?
Yes, for all US sales
So how come I get a deduction from non US sales?
I might be wrong, but if you fill W8 without tax number (not provided), you’ll earn 30% less from all US sales and that amount goes to US government. All other sales wouldn’t be affected.
How to get deduction? You can’t
I’d really like some reply on this, whether my statement is false or true.
