One more thing to add here:
I also just recently joined AdRev and was wondering about edits of tracks (as well as tracks that I remastered) - so I contacted AdRev and got the following answer:
You will want to upload any new edits of this track because they will each create their own unique audio fingerprint. If any of these tracks are obtained illegally, having them in the system will ensure we match against any use. You can upload each edit as its own mp3.
So thatās what I did. I uploaded every edit and version of my tracks to make sure theyāre detected.
OK. Thanks Flumen and all others!
Thatās enough info so far. And sorry for this little Off Topic.
Back to āWhy AdRev is not detecting your music in new videos!?ā
Spoke to the guys at AdRev about this a few months back when I noticed the same thing. Apparently, YouTube are re-prioritizing the videos that they are initially crawling for detections.
Seems they are targeting videos and channels with high view and subscriber counts first (maybe over 1000 subscribers, although Iām not sure on that). Smaller uses are being picked up much later, or as Iām beginning to discover - not at all. This, however seems to be a restriction with YouTube itself, rather than AdRev and all the other monetization platforms, as theyāre basically just taking orders.
Pretty frustrating, as it kind of defeats the purpose of our work automatically being detected and monetized if needs be. However, same as the other guys above, AdRev is my biggest form of income over stock sites, so trying not to kick up too big a fuss just yet.
Thanks Matt for your information so useful and detailed as always!
Hi, please allow me another question about AdRev function.
I just created an account and sent an image of the frontpage of my passport as a photo ID.
Now when I clicked on āUploadā to transfer my first track Iām asked for to send a photo again.
So, is it nesserary to upload a photo for each track? Or do I have to wait for a confirmation?
Or ā¦ ?
Thanks for your help in advance.
EDIT: Now I uploaded this photo again and reached the page to fill in my account profile again. So, this canāt be the right step to upload the first track. No idea now how to do this.
Got a different explanation from the AdRev guys (yesterday):
Advertisers were spending less money in the first quarter, but earnings should go up again in the second quarter. Seems like Content ID shares similarities with the stock market.
Iām still sceptical. Can anyone (whoās with another ContentID site) confirm this?
@UJ-pro I guess the ID has to get approved first. Ask their support, theyāre super quick with things like that.
Interesting. I had a big drop for January (less than 50%) compared to an all-time high in December. Quite strange, and 600 videos less!
Hasnāt been that low since the beginning, so something strange is going on for sure.
I am having low reults for January 2016, I usually have 14-15 pages of found matches, but for January only two pages. Not sure why other tracks are not detected like they used toā¦
To be fair, theyāve also mentioned this to me in the past when I was seeing big variations in my earnings, but Iāll join you on the skepticism (as I generally am with everything music industry related), as it does seem thereās some big changes going on regarding collection of ad revenue.
Same. Just got Jan 2016ās results. 8 video results vs Novemberās 1,800+
I got the same response. Iām quite skeptical as well. This explanation doesnāt explain the lack of detections. Almost all detections are from non-professional sources anyway. So in theory, we shouldāve seen a similar amount of detections, but with lower income.
Wow, thatās an ENORMOUS drop, very very strange indeed. I had a 25% drop but yours is almost 100%ā¦
Maybe one explanation could be that advertisers now have the option to only advertise on videos with a certain number of views and skip the 0-1000 view videosā¦
In my opinion, thatās definitely a contributing factor. I havenāt got Jan 2016 results in yet, but I did notice that December stats were added, then removed, then re-added. Itās possible theyāre tinkering with things after AdRev was bought by Zealot recently.
Iāve had a very inconspicuous earnings with AdRev so far: about 200 videos per month and $ 15-20 on average. But December 55 videos and $1.36, and January 4 videos and $ 0.17!
Definitely could be part of the explanation. However, my detections from December/January had an average of 100 views each. Not to mention the previous months had videos with views in the 1K, 10K, and 100K range. Those are nowhere to be found.
Seems like Iām not the only one! TacoMusicās point seems to be quite plausible for our situation.
If AdRev was purhased by someone involved in music industries and major labels, it could be focused on such content. So it seems all stock authors will be screwed.
Adrev find 870+ video with my music. And yet there are 600+ videos that he has not found! Since December the impression that they have lost my videos, because my salary this month (January) amounted to 0.01 dollars!) This is about 10,000 times smaller than before!) And what would they say) I will never believe that having more than 1000 videos income is 0.01 US dollar) nor is the new video! He was even on my youtube channel, where I pour my music does not show ads! I wrote them a letter and gave another one a chance to explain! If you do not help, I will be removed from the Adrev all your music! Because I do not wish that I was ashamed to himself, earning 0.01 dollars a month and feel like a failure and a man who cheats!
I noticed a drop too, and another weird thing was that all existing copyright claims were suddenly removed from my channel - I thought I had cleared my channel (by mistake), but the newest 2 videos now show claims, so thatās not the case.
Weird indeed! And worrying too. If the same happened to other users, it could explain the drop in detection/revenue.
Same problem here with a couple of my own videos on youtube, some of then with thousands of views. Also I noticed a drop about 40% on adrevĀ“s earnings and detections for january. I think the best thing we can do is complain and write an email to Adrev to inform this situation.
