After about 3 years, 400 uploads, 500 followers and 6,000 sales I’ve now made the notorious $75,000 mark and finally get to wear the “Badge of Badges”, The Envato Elite Author Badge. A big thanks to everyone involved! You know who you are :sunglasses:

AJ has been a fun and inspiring ride so far, and I’m really excited to continue on this path. RF music is still controversial to many people, and there’s not many that understand what we do, or why we do it. Producers in other fields think we’re undercutting the market and selling ourselves cheap, and the market either believes all RF music is produced with cheap 90’s MIDI keyboards and laptop microphones, or that it shouldn’t be called “royalty free” music if it’s not “completely free”. Sigh! Either way the concept is still gaining traction and remains the no. 1 choice for low budget video productions all over the world.

As authors we have an ongoing responsibility to educate the market, to explain what a “royalty free licence” is, and to make a good example for the whole of the RF world. I still believe most of my friends (and most people I talk to) don’t know what AudioJungle is. They think music is either free or super expensive, it’s not on their internal map of options to purchase a RF licence. That’s what we need to change, that’s much more important than discussing the details of operation “within these walls”.

Our market really isn’t “over saturated” with content. Some types of tracks are more “easy to find” than others, yes, but there’s still plenty of room for variety and higher quality options. The notion that “corporate” and “inspiring” are the only titles that sell is exaggerated. These are hot keywords, yes, but the competition for those keywords is quite hot as well. I found my niches in other places, and that has worked out for me. There’s a lot of great music that’s never found on AJ, simply because it isn’t uploaded yet!
