Help determine the causes of reject.
I really need to understand my mistakes.
Hey! I don’t want to be rude at all. Not even close to that. Here are my 2 cents:
- The mixing and the mastering lacks excitement and “punch”. It’s quite plain from start to end and no relevant elements (not percussive, not melodic) are introduced throughout. The claps and kick around 1 are too lost in the mix.
- The mid zone of the spectrum (from 400 to 1500, let’s say, it’s a bit overloaded with the constant piano, a guitar (is that a synth guitar?), part of the synth ostinatto, the pads.
- The overall arrangement is a bit busy for this genre. I would try to let it breath, give it some space, long notes, chords in whole notes, etc.
I liked the harmony, it’s not the typical but you need to work on the arrangement to give all the elements a role and dose them along the track. There’s a ZILLION tracks this genre you can take as a reference mix, master and arrangement wise.
