Hard reject trying to figure out why?

Hi all,

I’ve recently uploaded a track :

and it was rejected for 2 reasons:
this submission does not meet our commercial production (recording/mixing/mastering) standard, and our commercial composition/arrangement standard, unfortunately.

I mix/master myself but “blindly”, my room is not treated yet! So I’m doing the best I can with what I have!

Composition wise I feel like it’s a pretty generic piano/strings track that I thought would work commercially.

So I’m basically trying to figure out if my mixing was the issue or the style/ composition? Or maybe the strings don’t sound realistic enough?
I’d like to post more tracks but want to make sure I got it right so I don’t get rejected. I’m looking for some feedback to not make the same mistake.

Hi there. Nice composition ( especially like the intro very much ). That being said, I think there are some issues:

  1. The piano chord on 22 sec seems to hard and loud. It pops out.
  2. The transition at 1.38 sec feels abrupt and somewhat unnatural.
  3. I think you should work more with the strings to have the voices flow better. (There are some distracting leaps between notes).

Im no expert, but thats what I think anyway :slight_smile:
