Nominate your Gutenberg optimized items for a chance to win a share in $5,000!
We’re looking for the best Themes and Plugins that are optimized for Gutenberg and showcases the diverse functionality that the new editor provides!
Envato’s Content Specialists will be selecting winners in both the Theme and Plugin categories, with a total prize pool of $5,000 up for grabs.
To be in the running, we are looking for authors to:

Create blocks for Gutenberg that enhance or complement their existing items.

Improve their items to take advantage of Gutenberg.

Create new block plugins that enhance Gutenberg’s core feature set.
There are loads of resources out there to help authors optimize their items for Gutenberg.
We would strongly encourage you to check out the #GetGutenbergReady series on the Author Hub, which explores what Gutenberg means for WordPress Developers, how to #GetGutenbergReady and what tools and resources are available to you.
Here, we feature insights from ThemeForest Author Rich Tabor - a.k.a @ThemeBeans, and his experiences creating content using the new editor. Check out his latest Block Unit Test WordPress plugin, which helps authors to easily prepare their WordPress themes for Gutenberg.
We also feature top insights from our Envato WordPress Developer, @AaronRutley on the future of the WordPress landscape going forwards.
The #GetGutenbergReady contest will run over two months, so that you’ll have plenty of time to get creative and experiment with different ideas, designs and features (plus get any new items approved by the review team).
- You can now nominate any new or existing items for the contest and enter as many different items as like!
- For each entry, you will need to submit a new entry form describing how that item is optimized for the Gutenberg editor.
- Your item/s must be approved and available on either Envato Market or Elements by the contest closing date (Friday August 24, 2018).
As always, please read all the important entry requirements outlined below:
How to Enter
- Create a new item, or select an existing item that you’ve optimized for the Gutenberg editor.
- The item must meet the WordPress Submission Requirements for Gutenberg.
- The item must be specifically optimized for Gutenberg, it cannot simply be an item that doesn’t break when used with the Gutenberg editor.
- Complete the contest Entry Form.
- You must submit one entry form for each item that you’re nominating for the contest.
- Your entry form needs to describe how your item is optimized for the Gutenberg editor. Your description will be considered when judging the entries.

All winners will also receive the elusive Envato’s Most Wanted badge on their Market profile.
Our judges will review the nominations based on the following criteria;

The item has blocks or options created specifically for the Gutenberg editor.

The item is optimized for the Gutenberg editor as you’ve described on your entry form.

The item is presented well. This includes having concise and accurate titles and descriptions of your item.

For Plugin entries, the Content Specialist and Reviewers judging will be looking for plugins that create the most useful and coolest/on-trend blocks.

For Theme entries, the Content Specialist and Reviewers will be looking for themes that are specifically enhanced to work with Gutenberg. This may include ensuring your default blocks are styled well and that the theme styles are loaded in Gutenberg, or you build a specific block plugin for a theme that is enhanced to work with Gutenberg.
We’re looking forward to seeing all of the exceptional items that our talented WordPress community will create for this contest! Winners will be announced in September 2018.

We’re Envato - the promoter of this contest, and these are our contest terms - please read them!

The contest runs from Friday 29th June 2018 until 11:59pm, Friday 24th August 2018 AEST, Australian Eastern Standard Time. No entries will be accepted after that time.

To be eligible for one of the prizes, you must submit an entry form before the closing date of the contest (11:59pm, Friday 24th August 2018 AEST). If you are nominating more than one item, you will need to submit an entry form for each item.

If there are no eligible items submitted or we judge that there are no items that meet the quality standards required, then we may choose to not award a particular prize.

We will announce the winners on the Envato forums in September & contact the winners via email.

Prizes will be paid directly to the winner’s PayPal or Payoneer account within 30 days of receipt of payout information.

All decisions made about this promotion by the judges and the promoter are final.

Envato approved authors can enter this contest so long as they are over 18 years of age.
