error message upon installation Gecko theme

I have bought Gecko theme and upon installing into shopify it has this error message

zip does not contain a valid theme: missing template “layout/theme.liquid”

please fix and help asap as need to get onto business

Seems that you are uploading wrong .zip file. You should unzip package you downloaded from themeforest/elements and you will find another .zip in it, which should be called like your THEM-NAME.zip. Please try to install that .zip

To start the installation, You should unzip package you downloaded from themeforest/elements and you will find another .zip in it, which should be called like your THEM-NAME.zip. Please try to install that .zip.

To install the theme follow the following steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, click Online Store, and then click Themes
  2. Click Upload Theme in the top right-hand corner
  3. From the Upload A Theme dialog, click Choose File to select one of the .zip files in the Packages folder (mentioned above)
  4. Click Upload

To publish the theme on your storefront immediately, click Publish theme

I’m experiencing the same problem now. What do you mean by “unzip” the package from themeforest? And where would the THEM-NAME.zip be found exactly?

Is it’s the “theme.liquid” error then it’s probably a Shopify theme and won’t work on WP
