Lately, I’ve noticed frequent posts on rusian-language social networks where Envato authors are buying accounts from other authors on AudioJungle and elements. Today, I learned that everyone involved in these scams has been banned on Motion Array. These individuals were purchasing multiple accounts and laundering money by buying their own products to boost their accounts. I’m shocked by this type of fraud.
My question to the administrators is: can such actions harm honest authors on the platform? How do you combat this type of fraud? I have the names of a few account buyers, but I don’t want to rush to accuse anyone just yet.
Sometimes they don’t buy the account, but offer the author 50% of his monthly earnings, and buy tracks from him, is it possible to track such suspicious actions somehow? After all, it doesn’t happen that one buyer buys the entire portfolio from the same authors?
First, could you please explain how these dishonest practices can negatively affect other authors? And how can we protect ourselves from such situations?
Not exactly, they can launder money by purchasing tracks and getting 50% of the monthly payment, this is an investment, because by promoting the author with these purchases, other normal buyers start buying from him too, so by pouring in dirty money, they end up getting clean money and maybe even more than they invested
Sorry, we need to clarify meaning of this word. " Money laundering involves disguising financial assets so they can be used without detection of the illegal activity that produced them . Through money laundering, the criminal transforms the monetary proceeds derived from criminal activity into funds with an apparently legal source." So again, this is not about “laundering” in criminal sense of this word, it’s about gaming system. Both are bad actually.
If a scammer has the ability to pour money into the marketplace from dubious accounts, then at the end of the month he will receive an official salary from Envato to his clean account, but I really don’t understand this very well, that’s why I’m asking here so that smart people like you can help me understand if this is dangerous for honest authors like you and me, who write tracks every day and hope for the best, while all sorts of trash buys items from themselves.
Do you think money laundry is a new thing here? Like 8-10 years ago some one purchased 26000 copies of a simple slider plugin which made by a Romanian author and Envato write about this as a success story, they said the buyer like the slider so much and want to show their support, hehehe
I am still surprised to see this post. This is not allowed to self purchase your own items even through other account. This cases usually investigated and i asked to write to Envato support with exact names and links rather than trying to create bubbles of nothing here. This is exactly for Envato staff, not for public discussion.
Weird, there is no reaction from the moderators and administration
It’s just very offensive that I work hard every day, and someone buys from themselves and there is no information whether this is somehow controlled and whether it is punished.
And the rest of the messages are flagged , what’s going on? @BenLeong Is it not allowed to ask such questions here? Or are they flagged by people involved in such machinations? How does it work?
Ok, I get it, someone is flagging my messages, and I hope the administrators can see who is doing it, there are no illegal arguments or insults in these messages and I hope the administration will see this too.
As for the names, I have some, those authors who buy accounts from other authors in VK,com and I will personally inform the support if they ask me, here I just wanted to find out how this issue is controlled.
You can not try to flag this message, I will write it again
I don’t care anymore if they ban my accounts and keep my earnings, I have sold tens of thousands of items, I’m just maintaining my existing items since sales dropped by 90%.
If you have any name better to write to Envato Support with proofing screens and so on. Cheaters have no particular race, no language, no country. They can be from everywhere.
What type of reaction do you expect? You have no names, no proofs. So what’s your intentions? All previous accounts with suspicious activities similar to what your described and not only this were banned. And they need to be banned IF this illegal activities confirmed. Who will do this job? Forum guys such as you and me or Envato support specialists?
I have names and you know them for sure from VK. When I wrote I was expecting a specific reaction - this is an answer whether there are mechanisms to control such fraudulent actions. But so far I have received many comments from you about why stir up a hornet’s nest.
Leonid, You and I were in the same community before the war, and I’m not saying that you’re using it now, I said that you definitely know these authors from that social network.
