First time in 5 years that nothing was sold for a week. Full month with 6 sales. It’s tragic.

Sometimes old items, that are the best seller are not the best items to be sold nowadays.
Have that in mind.
For for this reason doors are now closed to new authors that don’t have the time / money / availability / more staff to launch an awesome product.
Most of the time these are common people who want to try to conquest this market, but with this new Envato policy of giving more rights to the old authors and old products than to the new ones it’s very hard for them to be recognized here. Maybe i understand that envato want to decrease the huge ammount of new authors on this market, but customers want variety of items, and new authors can provide that, so don’t lock doors on them and let them achieve something in their life.
For Envato is just maintain its website and receive their comission… so what’s the point of closing doors to new authors?!

euh sorry to say just this but some guys are just being nowhere to be seen for a while and after this while post items massively so i am not sure that your demonstration is 100% accurate so to speak. In addition, the number of items can only grow as long as they add new members who will thus post new items available in elements … , Otherwise i agree with all u said i think but i would add that this system is very unfair and everything but equalitarian as this is an invitational system and that people being able to join are far from being necessarily the best designers, musicians or whatever in town … so how is the selection being done? none has any idea about it …

as for me i do agree with some things that u said, though i turn out to believe that none of the “newest” or “oldest” guys in town are necessarily favored … “top sellers” are being favored … this means a very small elite … not all “oldest authors” to say the least (even if this maybe obviously even more difficult for a newbie somehow some way, to a certain extent). The public concerned / favored with this maybe under 1% of the global number of authors … all the others are more likely to suffer from “best selling” strategy
if i agree about the beneficial part of having all kind of authors and thus styles and so on , i am sorry to say just that but a lot of new authors have their items rejected and rightfully so, u know why? because a lot come out here , copy things up (generally without reaching the initial standard) or offer nothing new and thus end up complaining that they cannot go through the reviewing system, this is why they cannot sell …
new may indeed mean “fresher” but not in all cases, it depends on who we are talking about but in a lot of categories this is not. Let’s also face it , to be honest , newcomers are not being illtreated , they just suffer from what all people are suffering from that is to say a saturated market and tons of items in a wild variety of style because a lot has been done before they came … i do not to disparage some of these people , but for me clearly some guys come here and post and indeed they do not have what it takes in terms of level to have a very good run ,some are lacking training and consider this place as a "get rich quick"thing and this place is everything but this …

Category best sellers is just a part of searching results. Most people search manually by typing specific words and they got BEST MATCH results. I have a new item which was added on start of may and it makes same amount of sales 2nd month in a row just from searching results. Also there are items which become best-sellers with strong amount of sales (On VH).
As for elements it might affect sales but I’m sure not that much as it seems. I have whole portfolio on elements and still I have growing sales on VH. If elements was as bad as described here so I should have also huge drop of sales, but I don’t.
I believe there are more impactful reasons, mb change in search algorithm or something else

Sales are dropped within one week. Please, make the search results as old one.

In absolute numbers your situation isn’t that bad and kinda natural because of small overall numbers. If you’d have 120 sales in may and now only 50-60 - that would be bad.

@jamesgiroux Half a year has passed since the beginning of your experiment, you see the result of this failed experiment, you see the feedback of the authors. Maybe enough? Envato market is the main place of receipt of funds for many of us. We came here to gain financial independence, create content ourselves and be able to regulate our income. I had always 2-4 sales every day before your experiment and now my sales goes down. I have a family to feed and bills to pay. Your experiments push me to go and look for work again and destroy all my plans for the future.

Many of us do not stand at the origins of Envato Market, but we still contributed to the development of it. You loose your authors, many talent people that goes to other marketplaces. You will not get far by car without refueling. Top works is your fuel for now and who will refuel your car when it ends? Can you tell us the end date of this experiment?

Before HTML category they added Online Logo Maker. Isn’t Themeforest only for selling templates and Themes?
Add it on Graphic River.
Hope one day we will not see something like ‘Rent a Car in Melbourne’ instead of WordPress category.
I think Envato are destroying Themeforest with their hands.
