I thought for the start better is lower price… But I see it doesn’t matter:)
No, don’t sell yourself short. Better to sell one track a month for 29-49 than for 5.
I guess May was the month that all the customers went down the pub and didn’t come back out again. Feel I might just do the same! Happy weekend everyone!
49,49 dollars.
Scary… also it’s much easier to “compose” these days compared to let’s say ten fifteen years ago. Nowadays everyone with a rather simple laptop or computer can easily produce something. Before you needed to have a good understanding of software and computers etc. Also VSTs are becoming more and more simple, intuitive. It’s a good thing in a way but also a risk because this oversaturated music scene will get more and more saturated.
I guess high quality + niche are the only ways to stay ahead.
Exactly my strategy. Top quality, high price, niche
I sell on Codecanyon and I can tell you that when it comes with code quality is key, if the product is not premium and stands out in front of the competition it will not sell… I have no idea about music but I know that the quality must be premium!
Two sales, worst month ever in 6 years here…
Take a look at my image in the Dead or not dead… thread.
The decline in sales here directly correlates to the growth of Elements. Visitors of AJ are now back to 2016 levels.
Elements gets TEN TIMES the visits Audio Jungle does.
Something has to change, of course. At this rate audiojungle will be a desert where only elite authors will continue to have steady sales. I agree with those who decide to raise their prices and target a niche market but envato is pushing elements more and all items between 5 and 12 dollars on audiojungle. few, very few are the standard price items among the popular ones. I repeat, something has to change. I am more and more determined to go non-exclusive and test new markets.
Finally some said it not only me.
This has been saying from two years ago, unfortunatelly.
very accurate thought … if the situation does not change in the near future, I will do so!
You are very talented, continue. Never give up on your creative ability. God bless you and your family. Your work is so beautiful. Congratulations .
I remember in 2014. when I first tried AJ, my only problem was to get the tracks accepted, and if they did, they would surely sell. I got like 30 tracks in, and around 160 sales. After that I’ve paused for a few years. When I came back few months ago, I’ve deleted everything from the old times and started fresh with one exclusive and one non-exclusive account. Of course I’ve noticed that the quality requirements are much higher! I must have had 20 tracks rejected before I really did my homework with production quality. After I took everything seriously I composed and uploaded around 70 tracks combined, with very few rejections. I thought that would be enough but I was wrong unfortunately, coz nothing sells like it used to before. At first I thought it was my music or something but soon I’ve found out it’s the same for everybody and that Envato Elements has much to do with it. Not to mention people selling their work for 5$. I don’t do well on other markets too, some of them are 0 sales for months. I wonder if this industry has reached it’s limit? Maybe if all libraries would go to subscription plan it would make things even again…
Yes it’s everywhere, there are too many composers vs clients. Also if you see how many thousands of items get added here every week…it’s unbelievable. It’s a miracle to make a sale if you think about it, also kudos to Envato’s search engine to somehow tie everything together.
I hear you Wormwood. I keep seeing these promotions on Instagram for a company that offers a lifetime membership for a one-time fee of three hundred bucks. It’s amazing how low these companies will stoop to cash in on the naivety of musicians. It’s such an obvious cash grab, but there’s plenty of artists on there offering up decent quality tracks. Seems there are too many musicians - with talent and skill, I might add - who believe that music should only ever be a hobby.
One of these companies that are popular with YouTubers prohibits PRO-memberships and only pay their composers a one-off sum if a track get accepted. No royalties when the music gets used, no broadcast royalties. And the music is high quality. Crazy… As crazy as selling your music for less than a dollar on AJ.
So new track is approved. Let’s see if this new cinematic category is worth of the hard work.
