18 days…
11 days no sales.
I got my first April sale. I wish I could say it’s a good sign for sales to come, but it’s probably not. Also, I have no sales from the U.S. this year. What’s going on ?
The US probably doesn’t like you
I guess not so much. Never thought I’d miss paying taxes to the US.
Is that photoshop? Your sky is not a natural blue sky color. Well, the picture certainly looks nicer than outside my window.
But, my sky is much lighter.
Looks like a sky to me.
Your last sale was $24 12 days ago
Hi, has anyone here a non-exclusive AJ account and in parallel an account for an AJ competitor? If yes, I would be interested to know, how the sales going there.
Also interesting. And I think it’s time to leave the exclusive and trade on all the other stocks. If Envato doesn’t want to do anything…
@audiomania but for a radical step such like this, I would be interested first, if it’s a specific envato thing, or if the whole market is decreasing actually. If the whole market is down, it would make no sense to spread my work to other platforms and make also no sales there.
According to https://www.similarweb.com/website/audiojungle.net/ AJ traffic is quite down this year, but you can check quite a few other sites with a similar reduction in traffic these months, so it seems like a global thing. But you also see the AJ popular files list which seems weaker then normal, as far as I remember.
My sales on other sites have had a little slowdown in January/February but started to increase back to normal again in March.
Thanks for sharing this, @MojoSoundtrack . I did expect a traffic drop like this and if you say, this is similar to other markets, then it seems to be a global thing and nothing envato specific. But it shows me, that the customers actually don’t want or don’t need our work. No wonder, that we have a drop in sales.
Now we need patience and hope that the market will recover. So no panic reaction is needed like a price decreasing or change the platform.
Yes I definitely thing the global situation is part of it. But I think many of the new great tracks on AJ that does not get sales or views is mostly related to that typically 400-800 tracks are published each day here which is nothing less then insane. This is also a big reason why the price dumping is so aggressive here.
I think it would be much less price dumping with fewer published tracks and better curated collection of tracks in general on AJ. Ideally tracks that does not sound like everything else. There are some REALLY cool music to be found here, it’s just that it is so hard for those tracks to be found by customers I believe.
@Daydreamz-Studios I feel its not really about the traffic, its about how your music performs on every marketplace, maybe you will sell some kind of music more on AJ and some kind of music more on some other marketplace, so if you want to go non exclusive, you can try that for few months and check, maybe some other marketplace is a better home for your music, otherwise you can always come back to being exclusive on AJ. You can also create a separate non exclusive account to check that.
There are some great libraries with amazing content and they get very less traffic as compared to AJ, but whatever customers they have are very relevant to the content they are selling. They have a less but effective clientele for their content.
I absolutely agree to 1000% to what you said. The incredible increase of authors and tracks makes it nearly impossible to get attention of really good tracks. I do understand every new author, who wants to participate on the success. The all try to do the same thing, because they believe to get the same success. But what happens is the opposite. Thatt’s reasoned in customers behavior - they buy mostly the best selling tracks again and again. And you’re totally right: We have too much under-curated tracks here. I would not be annoyed, if AJ reject more tracks from me, if they sure, that the track will not sell or the category is oversaturated. I have the feeling, that we as AJ authors compose often “into the blue” without knowing, what are the customer needs. That’s a wish I have, that we have an opportunity to get more in contact with the customers, so they can tell us, what they wish and need.
Yes @Stock_Commercial , this is also a good argument. But my question was not reasoned especially to my drop in sales. I want only to know the possible reasons for all of us. I am satisfied with AJ. But you’re right, maybe my tracks would better sell on other platfoms. But it is always a lot of effort to get into another platforms - it’s very time consuming and I do my work here only as a side job.
But your argument is also right. And it seems, that we have a mix of possible reasons. And envato acting is not the reason for EVERY drop in sales.
Yes I agree, actually Envato will think more about their business than if few authors gets sales or not, so that’s why I feel we should also do right for our business by trying everything we can. Since Jan markets have been down and for AJ its a mix of reasons (not just Envato’s fault for sure), subscription sites are doing good enough though, subscription model is definitely growing up and its less amount per sale but the frequency is way more, so it makes up (as per my research). Yes that process is time consuming! My sales have hit a new low in April, I had a great March on AJ but in April I have only made one sale till now.
When will authors get the concept that if you create something for this marketplace that imitates or closely resembles existing tracks then the only thing that helps selling these tracks is to stick a cheap price tag on it.
Go on I dare you, create something that’s different from everyone else.
