Visual composer update problem

You don’t need to contact them to simply download the latest copy of the theme which will include the latest version of VC. You just get this from your download page

Well, first of, it’s the weekend, and most authors will take that time, so you shouldn’t expect an answer until business hours on Monday (based on the location of the theme author). And considering that the theme is a best selling theme from an elite author, s/he will get back to you eventually.

The “Total” theme also just yesterday released an update, which you can download on Themeforest. Most likely, the update will include an updated version of VC itself, as that is the exact way theme authors provide updates for bundled plugins (by including them with any theme updates directly).

I tried contacting two weeks ago so weekend is not the hold back. I just update total and vc plugin to latest version but i am afraid itnstill keeps on loading endlessly. When i downlaod the update directly fron their site, and install it, won’t i overwrite the cintent that is on the site? Otherwise it maybe is an idea to export conten, delete the whole wp install en re-install wp and them…?

Thanks both of you for advice btw

The strange thing is, really. I have another site with total on it. I never updated that one (i got two licenses) but vc works perfectly on this other site. So it must be something with the update. I didn’t doe anything else.

You didn’t specify when you contacted the author. Also, make sure you contacted the author via their designated support channel, and not just sending an email, as those are too easily missed. Most elite authors maintain their own external support websites, and if so, you should be using it accordingly.

And since you are outside of your support period, the author isn’t actually required to get back to you, although I can’t imagine, that the “Total” theme author wouldn’t at least let you know, that without you purchasing support, s/he won’t be able/willing to help you.

Also, a theme or plugin update won’t change your page/post content; if people would have to export and reimport their site content for each update, nobody would ever update in the first place.

However, unless you are using a child theme, it might change your default theme settings.

Also, after updating, you should always empty your browser cache, and any caching plugins/routines used by your site, in order to ensure that you are actually using the most current/latest files.

If that doesn’t fix it, you should check the browser console for any JS errors that might interfere, and/or (if your server maintains one), check your server error.log or debug.log file(s) as well, in case the error is server side (PHP related). But in the end, if the issue persists, you will have to either purchase a support package for the author to help you, or hire external support, if you are unable to fix it yourself.

This here is a global and general user forum for all Envato marketplaces, and you won’t really find a solution here, other than generic advise myself and others have already given you. Your issue requires someone to actually check/inspect your site (and potentially server setup), and only a dedicated support person will be able and willing to do that.
