Video on Elements

What did they say when you reported it via support?

So do I. So does everyone. But the overwhelmingly negative comments are based on people assuming what the consequences will be, without actually knowing what the consequences will be. And they’ve also chosen to ignore the information shared by Envato that the impact to the marketplace is minimal, and those who are on Elements have (on average) noticed an increase in overall combined earnings.

To say that this is the worst possible thing that could happen on VideoHive is just as accurate as saying it’s the best possible thing that could happen on VideoHive… although the later has a little bit more data to support it. It’s too early to say exactly how great, good, reasonable, bad or terrible this is… or whether it will bring about the end of VideoHive and of civilisation as we know it.

Really video on elements can be a good idea if envato know what they must do,
first to grow your business you must think to a new type of services and not harmful your existing services,

So why you don’t think to open a new type of templates on elements like premiere pro templates, motion graphic templates MOGRT and FCP templates, this type of templates is very suitable for video editor and they need a lot of this templates daily so it’s perfect for subscribe platform and at the same you offer a new services without impact the existing marketplace, and you offer a real new opportunity,

Can you tell us what will happen with the multi use license?, right now a multi use license of 4K motion graphic cost around $160 and we make this type of sale from time to time and envato earn from this sale around $28 so how you tell the customer now come pay $19 or $29 and get everything and use it as many as you want and in the fact you make this amount of money from one multi use license sale. so why you don’t offer a multi use license fro the existing AE templates and i’m sure more than 20% of sale will go with multi use license so the money you need to make via elements you can make it with new type of license.

Can you tell us how you will protect us from pirated website?, right now pirated website buy our templates officially and reseller it on their website, later on elements you will give him the best gift ever, imagine this when pay $228 and get everything for one year  . believe me if envato spend the same time on building and marketing elements website to protect us from the pirated website they will earn the same amount of money without need to run this new business.

@SpaceStockFootage No it’s not to early to say our opinion Because it’s stupid to wait until the disaster comes and then we start looking for solutions, so if envato have all the numbers about other marketplaces and how elements impact this marketplaces they must share with us and assured that our sales will not be affected with elements. even if they can’t tell us the exact numbers they can at least give us a percentage about this situation. right most themforest authors say there sale go down with 50% al least so is this true or not?
also envato say (noticed an increase in overall combined earnings) so that exactly mean author will notice a lower income in videohive and new income in elements so over all it will increase the sale, this is a good point but when envato say (we’ll begin inviting authors) so that mean not all authors have the opportunity to increase there sale so how this ignoring authors can compensate their losses?

Finally we all love envato and we all create our stuff with lot of love and hard work and we all looking for better future for our self and our family so please envato don’t think about money only think also about your creative community

Hey guys, I don’t really get what all this whining is about. First you need to be selected or approved by Envato in order to have access to Elements. Then YOU can choose which of your items are being made available in Elements. It is entirely up to you if you want to take part in this new revenue model or not.

The only thing I don’t understand is whether Authors are being paid MONTHLY or ONLY ONCE:

“For example, let’s say there was only one subscriber, they generate revenue (excluding transactional taxes) of $29 for the month, and download items worth a total of 20 item points. The amount available for sharing with the authors of those items is 50% x $29 = $14.50.”

Let’s say that subscriber only downloads these 20 point worth items once, remains subscribed but does not download anything else. Will the same authors repeatedly receive this shared amount each month?

From what i understand, you will get this 20 point for one month only

OMG! this is very bad news… Happy Christmas !

Smart thinking and totally agree with you, there is a lack of data here. We cannot just say “OMG this is the end !” with the infos we have.

Collective income distribution. hmmm, somewhere I already heard it. It seems in the song “Back to the USSR”

Haven’t contacted support yet but I will soon.
I just hope they won’t tell me to send DMCA by myself like they normally do with copyright issues.
I’m surprised that I have to write to Envato for this kind of stuff when they should have a full department working only on this!
Anyway those videos have more than 200k views combined, if just 50k of them were gentlemen and downloaded only one item average priced 20$…it’s 1Mil loss for Envato in the best case scenario!
:scream:

50K downloading from 200K views? That would possibly the most successful video marketing campaign in the universe! But still… if somebody is visiting a dodgy site to get free content, then it’s unlikely they’re going to spend real money to buy something if it’s not available on that dodgy site, or that dodgy site ceases to exist.

If somebody wants something free then they’ll probably find it. It may not be exactly what they want, but if they wanted exactly what they wanted… then they’d probably pay for it in the first place, rather than looking for some dodgy site where they can get it for free. As long as sites exist where they can get stuff for free, which is probably until the end of time, then they’re going to get stuff from those sites. Some people pay, some people get stuff for free… there’s only going to be a smallish grey are in the middle where people may switch sides. 1000 downloads from a dodgy site wouldn’t equate to anywhere near an extra 1000 paid downloads if that dodgy site ceased to exist. You’d be lucky if it was somewhere between 1 and 10.

I’m not saying we shouldn’t report these sites, or send DMCA’s and do whatever we can to rid the planet of such things… it’s just the difference to our sales for all that work, will be barely perceptible. Unless we got rid of every dodgy site, where the impact would be more noticeable… which is never going to happen.

Maybe Envato realised that a long time ago, and that’s why they don’t have a whole department working on it. Department of lets say ten people… annual cost of over $500k… say most of the items on such a site are from 70% authors… the department would have to make $1.66 million of revenue just to break even. Stopping people from downloading $1.66m worth of stuff for free might be achievable. Stopping people from downloading $1.66m worth of stuff for free, and getting them to start downloading $1.66m worth of stuff by paying for it… would be pretty difficult.

Yes you are right, I’m afraid it’s a lost war anyway, there’s no way we can stop those who put our items on other websites for free.
As you said the costs to stop them would be much higher than what Envato would get in return so yeah, let’s just forget it…
I saw a comment of an author under one of those videos telling everyone to spend those 20$ on videohive and the average reply was “yes but why pay 20$ when I can get it for free”…
At least before Elements those who steal out items had to pay some extra bucks before putting it online for free, now with subscriptions they will find a way for sure to download items in bulk for 29$…

it is a myth. In fact, all that we have we bought is not because they wanted, but because they force us. Who was this angry forced? This is the Need. I would never buy new tires if I did not have a car, I would never have cut my hair, if I did not have it … I would never buy templates if I could get them for free!

They have already found a way and did it because I am looking at the moment a link with the title “Envato Elements Full Sources- 3200+ Files”.

Not sure if you’re agreeing with me, but I feel you might be!

In what I am sure so far all about this is that Envato should “take care” a bit seriously and create a special team against pirate sites and another fraud with our items.

My GR earnings are slightly decreasing and my Elements earnings are slightly increasing. They are balancing each other out. 2017 was fairly consistent and slightly better from 2016.

My experience:

I’ve been there since the beginning and my Elements earnings are somewhat consistent.

2016

Sep
Oct + $16
Nov - $18
Dec + $211

2017

Jan + $103
Feb - $44
Mar + $25
Apr + $94
May - $107
Jun - $72
Jul + $32
Aug + $12
Sep + $32

My contributor bonus (from last 3 months) represents 25% - 30% of my total earnings. I consider it a high percentage.

In September 2017 I’ve earned almost 3x times more from my first payout in September 2016.

In September 2017 I’ve earned less than a dollar from 14 items (each). I’ve earned $36 from my top selling item, however, my top item usually represents $50 - $60.

According to GR item sales, this item https://graphicriver.net/item/anaglyph-glitch-photo-fx/15714544 represents $72 / month. At Elements, I earn $30 - $35 per month.

I believe my overall experience will increase greatly if they implement a new and informative dashboard. We (Elements contributors) DO NOT know how many times our items are/were downloaded. We DO NOT know how much we will earn next month. Not knowing what will happen next is highly demotivating for me. I do not have my best selling items on Elements. I really hope they implement a new dashboard as soon as possible.

The graph represents my 2017 GR earnings.

graph

Conclusion:

2017 GR earnings will be slightly better from 2016 (right now I have yet to meet last year numbers), however, Elements allowed me to earn about 60% of what I’ve earned from my GR sales. I believe Elements will replace the other markets in the long run and I’m afraid these numbers won’t be so high next year.

This is the beginning of the end. Collapse for most authors. In fact, Envato will simply devalue our projects. I talked with many colleagues from graphicriver, and they all said it was a disaster for them. I’m sure that many authors will leave Envato. This is sad

it’s great, I also want to participate. Let’s all the community write a video in which everyone will pronounce one phrase in their native language, get an international. Just need to decide on the phrase. where to send video for further editing?
