There’s clearly a specific problem with the GENERAL balance and unbalanced panning of certain elements. I’m surprised not everyone are hearing this…
My thoughts - the triangle sound is very, very harsh - it cuts through very strongly and sounds fairly dry. As background music, this is going to get in the way of dialogue and be distracting for speech. Especially if someone were watching a video on their iPad or on cheap headphones, if this was the backing track it’d be problematic.
The bass didn’t really bother me really, though it’s wasn’t particularly inspiring either. Overall the mix felt like it could be a bit wider and richer, and could be smoothed out with some compression. I can see in the waveform large spikes but I can’t hear anything representing them, which leads me to suspect you have lack of control over your sub (I don’t have strong sub monitoring so I check everything with an analyzer). Should check you don’t have a lot of super low end, and possibly run the track through a bit more compression, a bit more panning, and a bit richer reverb.
I stuck a best seller track or whatever you call it that’s current on this site. I listened to it in my studio and listened to it down the hall and all I could hear was booming bass and litres and litres of reverb.
The triangle on this track is perfectly OK and not harsh at all. Either get some decent cans/monitors or get your ears tested.
How did you get such detailed feedback on your track?
That’s the main thing I noticed as well. I’m a bit confused about the talk of an intrusive bass melody though… Maybe I’ll listen to it again.
You will learn very quickly that 99.999% recurring of so-called musicians talk mostly sh1t when it comes to what they think they are hearing and will make up just about any rubbishy excuse to to justify the camp they want to back. Objectivity is a rare thing.
Just listened again. It’s not bad, but it is a bit loud at times and could sit slightly better in the mix, according to my metal-festival-ravaged ears. I will never get them tested, never!! No dentists, no ear doctors, no surrender! (My motto.)
Have you listened to the mixes of most of the tracks that get onto this site? Are you actually joking about the triangle? What are you comparing this track to? A Led Zep mix? That’s just not consistent with what has already been accepted here.
Based on this, I find your entire attitude highly questionable. Have a nice day!
You find it highly questionable because you don’t agree. You want to try re-listening to your own tracks buddy before you try to impress anyone.
Bass that comes at 0:48 is a variant of a saw bass. In case you are new to electronic music - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sawtooth_wave
Good luck
Yes I am quite new to electronic music. I started with a Moog in 1971. How about you?
Well, it is great that you are very experienced with analog hardware. I am just surprised that you didn’t recognise that simple (and famous) bassline sound which is often achieved with single osc and saw waveform. No offence
It’s telling that you think I’m posting on this thread only to try to impress people. Says a lot about you. I make music as a hobby and I have no delusions about the quality of my own work. I do however have a good ear for music and some experience with production, and as such I like to offer my opinion on these threads. Simply offering help and enjoying talking about music is why I’m here. Good day to you sir!
It’s been hard rejected. They didn’t want it. Move on.
We’ve all had stuff rejected.
Ok it’s interesting theme, a nice idea, but having good listen I would have to say this track is neither here nor there, It’s not BAD, but it’s not quite great. Maybe to call it “half-baked” or more like three-quarters baked is fair. It’s depends on your experience and your level of professional work, and your ability… I listened to it with a muted video and yes there’s some parts that feels awkward to me… I don’t look to prove a point any way, just with a completely open mind… some of the low melodies just feeling a bit out of place sometimes, I felt too many moving bass notes parts, something sounded a bit not in place to me, especially for the second half…but that of course is just my opinion!
For being objective there are parts that could (and I guess should) be improved if it needs to sit well under many different visual projects. So I guess you can say it seems as something like a borderline issue, which means it can get accepted or rejected from what I remember, when we discussed this on the webinar… Also it said that if the reviewers hear a certain number of issues, they can hard reject without much doubt… so maybe it is fair to say they just did their job there… we have to live and learn that way…no?
Probably if i was in your place I would try and appreciate the rejection to learn something from, to improve (no pain no gain?) instead if someone accepted it just like this, but then it just would have less less chance of getting noticed, and could get not much sales, or zero, like so many files that could have also have more improvement, or be more attracting to more buyers.
Good luck!

I thought I’d share the review, as I though it was a bit silly It was not my attention to be re-reviewed by more authors here, so sorry for hogging this space!!! But, there is some very interesting feedback, so thanks to all who posted! Really appreciate your thoughts.
I wrote to support and said I wanted to appeal the hard reject and after some persistence they allowed it to be looked at again. I didn’t really understand the faux-pas bit but it did make me laugh!
I have had a few hard rejects, I don’t really care, I submit to all sorts of marketplaces so sometimes this happens, but I thought the track in the context and pricepoint of Audiojungle was fine, which is why I questioned it. I know I should keep my mouth shut and play the game but hey ho!
Once in a while you have to speak up. If only to keep sane. Just did myself. After that, move on and play the game again.
Yeah the bass really didn’t bother me as far as I could hear. Just the waveform seemed to indicate more sub than I would expect, though it IS the soundcloud waveform - not exactly the most accurate thing out there!
