US buyers once more gone for me, which make all the difference.
Also strange is the fact that I have a rather stable income every month and once I reach it then sales stop. Feels like a limit and it doesn’t matter if I reach it by the end of the month or in the first 10 days.

I also had the feeling that we are allocated a certain price ceiling above which it is impossible to earn

Lowest exposure for new items since clients don’t see automatically new projects but instead they need to look for and click on the small “Browse New” button.
I remember a few years ago the first days after a new publication brought nice sales.

Yes, I also think that now it is necessary to show new projects on the first page by default, this is the only way to keep sales going.

Only 2 sales in 11 days. New record!

Is the Marketplace open? So much inactivity lately.

Youtube removed monetization to a lot of channels who used stock videos. Their policies may also have affected the logo reveals, slideshow, openers. As a result, less sales.

A sudden complete halt. I don’t take this seriously anymore, basically just paying my internet bill… but now even that is not the case. I came here to see if others are feeling the AI squeeze.

I hope it will get better.

Sales have been going downhill since 2019. It all started when Videohive allowed authors to set their own prices for items. This opened the door for authors from countries with weaker currencies to offer their products at rock-bottom prices. As a result, buyers started prioritizing cheap items over quality.

Then Envato Elements came into the picture and things took a nosedive for me. My sales dropped by more than 50% because of it. And just when I thought things couldn’t get worse, the Covid-19 pandemic hit. I went days without any sales, which was something I had never experienced before.

After about a year and a half, things started to look up. But then the Ukrainian war started and sales plummeted once again. Now, in May 2023, it’s not uncommon for me to go days or even weeks without making a sale.

If Envato wants to boost sales, here are a few suggestions:

  1. Set a minimum price for items based on their length and resolution. This would ensure that authors are fairly compensated and discourage ridiculously low prices.

  2. Give Videohive more exposure and promotion. It’s the platform that has seen a decline in sales, so it could use some extra marketing efforts.

  3. Consider raising the price of Envato Elements membership. By increasing the cost, you might attract customers to videohive.
The concept of offering memberships that allow unlimited downloads of digital video content may face challenges and prove to be unsustainable over time.

Implementing these ideas could help Envato turn things around and create a better environment for authors and buyers alike.

Try to change prices to minimum, you will see that sales will remain the same. We don’t have any control of sales since 2018. I was on a good road since someone decide to stop everything…

yes, I preferred it when Envato set the prices… I need to price low to make sales and the $6 fee often means I make less than 50% of the sale. I think they should get rid of the fee… just charge a percentage. Many of us , through a long term commitment have earned a good percentage. The policy is generally like most capitalist ventures, what they can get away with.

Personally I found that author-driven pricing was the best change made during the last few years.
I have actually risen my prices and it gave me great flexibility when I needed to shell multiple licenses to a single customer.
Elements on the other hand…

@ sotto3D, yes. I can see that… especially for those who can price & sell their projects in the $30 plus category.
I don’t put up projects anymore, but if I continue, I will try for specialty items that won’t mass sell but that I will price high.
