Also, we need official post what exact codecs we can upload. Envato needs to broaden options regarding codecs. @mark @MotionRevolver
It’s not that PNG+Alpha is no longer permitted, but Apple customers won’t be able to use the file due to the drop in codec support on MacOS Catalina.
Please read this link for more information. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT209000
That’s why we’re asking for authors to begin providing files that contain alpha in either ProRes 4444, or provide the alpha channel as a black and white matte (which will produce a much smaller file).
And we’re working on getting the codec information updated. I realize this is a little frustrating at the moment (for us included), but we’re working through this as quickly as we can.
Ok, here is my problem. I’m using Adobe suite CS6, been using CC for few years but honestly don’t have huge need for that at the moment (for europe, we have to pay ~600$ a year for after effects only), and since I don’t have a mac (anymore), I cannot render alpha as proress 4444 (remind you, I don’t have adobe media encoder cc to do that) than quicktime png (animation loseless is just huge). There is another way using program called ffmpeg, but I cannot get prores4444 to have correct color space for some reason.
So, please give as another alpha option for upload.
Please see my response. A separate black and white luma matte file would also be acceptable.
I understand, for me that would be also awesome, but I’m not sure how buyers respond to that, it’s a bit of a hussle (for buyers).

So I did what you recommended, I uploaded two h264 videos (on of them is alpha channel - luma matte) and I got soft rejected with following message:
H264 does not support integrated alpha channels.
Since this item contains an alpha channel, we recommend encoding this item using the Apple ProRes 4444 codec.
So, my question is, is this allowed or not? Sorry but reviewers really need to be on the same page regarding upload. I think it’s time for new upload guidelines asap.
@_Tempus H.264 is certainly allowed, just as long as you provide the black and white matte as a separate file. The matte cannot be edited onto the end of the main file – the main animation file and matte file must be provided as separate files within a ZIP archive.
I did exactly what you’re describing, but got rejection.
What is your marketplace username? “_Tempus” isn’t bringing up any account.
@_Tempus Looks like it was simply an oversight. I’ve approved both soft-rejected files for sale. Please feel free to continue submitting files using the separate alpha matte method, and I’ll reach out to the review team to make sure everyone is aware. Thanks for bringing this to my attention!
thanks a lot mate.
@MotionRevolver How about exporting alpha graphics by QuickTime - Animation with RGB+Alpha ?
With “Quick Time - Animation” you’re gonna have a huge file without compression. It’s not a good option. I make projects which contain videos with alpha channel and I usually upload these clips using a “png sequence”, that’s allowed.
See @GoForMotion’s answer above.
