I’m one of the new authors around here as well. And I fell into the game right off the bat. Still I’d like to chime in though.
To me I can see the current title weight as only being detrimental to the marketplace - and to be honest, not to sound overly-dramatic but maybe even disastrous if not changed. Is it too far-fetched to think this could have very damaging implications in terms of AJ’s ongoing reputation?
I don’t know how much user-satisfaction - and the resulting word-of-mouth based on it - could affect the habits of the micro-license buying community but I’m going to guess that like most anything on-line usability/user-experience can play a huge role in the success of a site - probably even more so when the goal is to sell the user something. Potential buyers being presented with a long list of the same titles (or indistinguishable variations on it) would probably be an irritating, frustrating user experience - and irritating, frustrating sites don’t remain very successful or very popular for long.
I agree strongly with soundroll’s and other’s views that for the longevity and viability of this community, the search engine algorithm and the titling issue needs to be sorted out.
