I have purchased a malfunctioning item, I have sent a request for a refund and author has replied it but why it taking envato long to process the refund? Its been about days since the seller’s reply.
Once approved, takes 3-5 business days until that refund is processed by Envato, and then how soon you receive that depends on your bank further.

You can check your statement page on your profile it’s been approved.
As ki-themes mentioned, you can check statement page.
Also, when you send a request for a refund, then you get email with a tracking link. That tracking link allows you to see progress. Here you will find more about refunds and how that process goes.
