Proposal for Standardized Pricing Across ThemeForest Admin Templates

Dear Authors and the Envato Community,

We wanted to address a significant concern impacting all ThemeForest authors, particularly in the Admin Template category. As you may already know, Envato has officially shifted its marketing focus towards Elements, which has left little to no hope for future marketing support for ThemeForest. This shift, coupled with declining sales, has deeply affected authors who have been dedicated to this marketplace for years.

Having been part of this market for over seven years, we have observed that customers don’t solely purchase based on the lowest prices. They purchase items that meet their requirements. However, the tendency to lower prices has affected overall revenue, creating a race to the bottom.

We believe it’s time for all authors to consider maintaining standardized pricing. By doing so, we can ensure fair profits for everyone, even with limited sales volumes. For example:

  • HTML Templates: $39
  • React, Angular, and other versions: $49

These fixed prices would benefit all authors by leading to a much higher overall income while maintaining a sustainable marketplace.

We’ve analyzed other marketplaces that successfully maintain standardized pricing, and their authors consistently achieve stable and higher incomes. By adopting a similar approach, ThemeForest authors can thrive despite the challenging market conditions.

We request and encourage authors to share their suggestions and support this initiative. Together, we can ensure the long-term viability of our marketplace and improve profitability for everyone.

I agree with this, mainly we decreased our price because of some of authors selling at very low price and it affects our sell.

So if major author agrees, this is the only solution I can think of.

Yes, day by day, older templates are experiencing no sales, while only new templates seem to generate sales. Implementing standardized pricing will help increase profits for all authors.

Each author should be able to set its own prices I do not agree with this… the price is not the issue with sales, the issue is te way Envato is ,managed this day, changing the prices will solve nothing.

As stated, the purchase comes from their needs, not because of the low price, although, lower prices could confuse some of them but there’re still few authors selling templates (WP) from 159$ while some Elite offers “start-up” price from 19-29$ to make it look like more sale.

Envato stopped promoting the items and stopped gaining traffic to marketplace. They are taking the traffic to Elements. This is the main reason.

Yeah I agree but still there must be something minimum, I have seen selling HTML, React, Angular template selling just in $6 and $7.

This extremely low pricing is significantly harming the marketplace. Additionally, Envato is not focusing on this issue. I believe that setting a standard price could be one way to address this problem

This was the last step…

We are in the final stages of development for an alternative marketplace of our own, which we will release soon with a dedicated licensing system. At the same time, we are also in the final stages of our efforts on the Envato market. Over the past three months, we have been struggling to pay our team’s salaries while solely relying on Envato. To address this, we have decided to launch our own marketplace, Spruko Market, and we plan to start it very soon.

Please share this if possible, I am interested.

But we won’t sell it; it is intended for my company’s internal use only, as it reflects 8-9 months of effort.

You don’t need anything “special”. If you have already “Envato license check” system, with little bit modifications, you can manage the details easily with few WooCommerce add-on.

There’re also some paid, some free license management system on Github/WordPress.org…

Closing topic. Discussing the pricing, arranging agreement between authors regarding price fixing is against the TOS.
