Porto Responsive Shopify Theme missing files

I just purchased the Porto Theme from ThemeForest but when I tried to upload it, it seems to be missing critical files.

Here is what the error says:
zip does not contain a valid theme: missing template “layout/theme.liquid”
Upload a .zip file of your Shopify theme. Uploaded themes will be unpublished by default.

Maximum file size: 50 MB

I’m super keen on paying for things that don’t work. Please help!

Assuming you did definitely purchase the Shopify version of that theme then make sure you are only trying to install the theme folder and not the entire download
