(Locked) PhotoShop CS5 .psd file currpt/not open :( my lots hard work

Hi Friends,

Today Accidentally my photoshop has closed at that time i am working on my demo template work from last 2 months, so again i open my .psd file thier is error prompt “could not complete your request because the file is not compatible with this version of photoshop”.

:frowning:
:frowning:

Several time i try but it can’t open my .psd file. if anyone face this type problem or have any solution to solve this i will be very thankful to you, of-course its my two months hard work.

Thanks

Man I feel your pain :frowning:

I’ve switched to a Mac for about 6 months now and the PS crashes stopped and if they occur I still may be able to recover some work using the time machine.

I can’t tell you how to recover your work I’m afraid, what I can tell you is to try and find a hourly backup solution to prevent these situations from happening in the future.

Best of luck

I dont want to sound rude, but where is your backup?

The error message sounds like you are opening a version of PSD file that’s saved optimized for the later version (i.e. file containing features that are only supported by the later versions) from an earlier version of Photoshop. It doesn’t say file corrupt, does it? I suggest you to try opening the file from an older version of Photoshop from a different PC, if possible.

I learned this the hard way: back up-back up-back up!

Good luck on your file

not work for me :frowning:

I had the same problem and there was now way for me to recover it… I had to do all the work again but next time with 100 back-ups.

WAOn nice Idea! hehahhahehah

I keep my project folder in Dropbox, and if anything happens to a file, I use “Previous versions” to go back in time.

I had this problem before. When I was finished doing my first WordPress theme, I accidentally overwrote ALL the files. WEEKS of work down the drain. I had to REDO 80% (I had my browser open at that time so I copied all the HTML source that I can find).

The next morning (with no sleep) I bought a Time Capsule http://www.apple.com/timecapsule/

I use it now as my wifi router, and it automatically backs up my whole machine. It’s backup feature is only for Macs, and the device isn’t cheap… but it’s transparent hourly backup has saved my life multiple times already.

I highly recommend it!

Yeah, main thing here is to just keep back-ups. For example what I do is keep a usb drive of all the important files, a regular back-up on my computer, and another backup of some other important stuff on my Xoom. Seems to work really well.

I agree, it’s really backing up eeeeverything. I even back up my databases hourly.

That’s an insane amount of backups, I love it. Do you have an automated process for this? I just use my time capsule so I don’t have to do anything since I keep forgetting.

lol yeah but not everyone can afford a Time Capsule. No offense but why do Mac users always say “i just use my (insert very expensive product here)” lol. I have actually tallied up the costs of what i use (non-apple) vs Apple. Using Apple i would have never been able to afford my Mustang. srsly i would have had to use a cheap moped that hopes to do 45mph. But Apple products are high for a reason…i guess. OUrr local scrap yard has just as many macs as they do PCs.

for pc there are Home network storage units that work the same as time capsule. Most work with iTunes and such, for only $200 for 3tb storage. My god Time capsule can get up to $600!!! why? why so high? oh well. Also yes these will work with other backup programs, heck windows 7 has one built in that does pretty well. Never had a problem.

anyhoo. the main thing is backup. if you have a lil pentium 3 (dont know if older macs can network in like this) laying around and extra outlets u can network it in for backup as well for a quick cheap sort of “greenish” solution. Buy a cheap external drive case and put the largest drive you have in it. basically Make your own Tank.

If you are on a PC and are using Vista or 7, try this:

  • Open the folder your .psd is in
  • Right click and select Properties
  • Click on Previous versions

It will list a few folder from the last few days/weeks. You might just be lucky and find an earlier version of your .psd in one of those folders.
