We've put up $7,500 in prize money for Envato's most wanted file type - App Promo Videos on VideoHive.
We’re running a “Best Item” contest where authors of all eligible App Promo After Effects items uploaded to the marketplace between March 31st and May 26th will have a chance to win awesome cash prizes!
What You Can Win

This means that creating an awesome app promo template built with flexible and modular “toolkit” style components, realistic gestures, and high quality keyed & tracked video footage has the opportunity to win up to $5,000 for a single item!
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for After Effects templates that do an outstanding job of mocking-up and promoting mobile apps. Templates made to be used for app commercials and demos, and truly able to showcase what the app can do.
Here are some eligibility criteria to keep in mind:
- We're not looking for templates simply with spinning iPhones here. These are not iPhone commercials! The templates must be designed to promote the app, not the device. How well the template is able to highlight and effectively present the app itself will be a key criteria in judging.
- The template must make use of gesture indications (e.g. tap, double tap, scroll, swipe, pinch & zoom, etc). These can be animated or real/filmed hands, or any other pre-animated graphic representation.
- Any included device footage must be pre-keyed and motion tracked for easy screen image/video replacement.
- The main promo sequence must be a minimum of 1 minute in length. Shorter alternate versions may also be included.
Additionally, we recommend that you:
- Make the template as flexible and customizable as possible. Things such as including alternate device skins will help your project's universal appeal.
- Show a demo of your template working with a real app. Make sure you have proper permission for any assets included in your item preview, or you could always just make up your own.
- Remember that the end user will likely add narration/voice over to the video, so keep the timings and transitions at a nice and natural pace.
- Keep it real! There's nothing worse than a flurry of fake body parts flying around the screen. If you don't have the equipment or access to capture a good pair of hands, that's okay, an illustrated version or more graphical gesture indicator can also look good and work well.
