InMotion VS a2 Hosting

Aloha ya’ll !

Im super tempted to take up the offer from one of these hosting providers as part of the Envato special but I am not sure which would best suit my usage.

I am a photographer / designer based in South Africa so I need something strong and secure. I also build websites for my clients as a bit of spare cash, so being able to add on domains is important to me too.

Thoughts + Recommendations ?

I primarily use Wordpress and currently have about 6 domains that I am overseeing.

Well, I’ve not used either of them before, but InMotion looks pretty solid

We are using 2Hosting since about 6 months and have problems over problems. Nothing works as it should, if you have more than a “basic” site. Many many downtimes, about 200 events (different types of errors) within 24 hours.

The staff seems to not know how to fix problems.

That makes me somewhat scared.
Also considering Im in South Africa ( GMT +2 ), I have to email all support questions which means it support response and quality is VERY important.

Been using a2hosting for almost 2 years, and I almost never had problems, and yeah, their chat / live support is pretty weak, but everything else is awesome.

Edit : Just noticed, why did someone flagged the response from a2hosting ?

Hi Gewora,
I’ve looked at your ticket and the issues are related to mod_security flagging your scripts - mod_security, which most every host uses. We’ve made exceptions to our rules for your domain and are continuing to work on the issues in your ticket - in fact, our techs are awaiting an answer from you on the latest changes they have made to help alleviate your situation.

Hi Kyrelimit,
We have live support available 24/7 via both telephone and live chat, and tickets submitted to our ticket system are monitored and responded to 24/7 as well. Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns!

Thanks,

A2 Hosting

You guys are funny. We just got informed by CloudFLare that the problems still continue. Please don’t try to make it look like that the problems are caused by our script. We have normal PHP script’s running without any special stuff, even WordPress produces the problem frequently.

For everyone: http://cl.ly/image/391Q0q430C0T

This is a graphic from the last week which states the events (errors) which occur on the site. 196 within a couple of hours is insane.

We had problems with you since the beginning, huge upstream issues on your side, and the problems continue and continue.

Im really like this hosting deal too! my bluehost was expiring just in a few weeks!

I did some search too about both companies and there are always pros and cons, but for now im more toward Inmotion!

And it seems I missed the deal. Feck. :frowning:

When offer ends?
Don’t see more information on envato market but if appears in A2Hosting but not InMotion.

still on… google

birthday envato 2014

or go here

http://go.themeforest.net/birthday-hosting-offer/

I was tempted to make that Deal.
But then i did a Google Search for “inmotion hosting experience”:
On “Yelp” there was so much stuff like “STAY AWAY!”, “AVOID INMOTION”, “DON’T WALK AWAY . . . RUN!!!” and "Zero stars for awesome suckiness!"
On the opposite all professional tests are good.
Still tempted…

i saw them too, but imo people who don’t get the greatest service are more apt to leave a bad review than the opposite…also ssd for database, 90 day guarantee + $75 sort of cinches it.if it sucks i make probably $20-$25 if i let it sit and use the $75…that is why i get the cheapest one…less to lose. and i make more $…Actually I may go for the middle12 mo.deal–quite a bit extra for $1 a month. If i spend $75 this next yr at Envato I make $15…and have a test hosting account…or i find my next host because they are great…can’t lose really

I have been using inmotion Hosting for over 6 years and they have both a West coast and East cost data center which offers free 24 hour support round the clock. I refer all my clients and also am part of their referral program which I have a banner on some of my sites.

Their Cpanel is about the best around since they keep it very up to date with Softlicious apps and also use the latest PHP and MySql.

One thing I really love about them is their " live support" and if a server goes down or bad on their end you simply submit a ticket request to move your accounts to a new server and never lose any downtime during the move. They are superb and I recommend them.

Another great aspect is when you install any CMS…it is very easy and everything comes with a video tutorial to show you how to manage all your accounts.

Hope that helps

also… ssh with inmotion

Really? The fact they have softlicious is the argument to go with them? I do not know what hosting companies have you used before but all of them have cpanel with 1 click installer packages.

So… InMotion it is.

I bought last night the Inmotion hosting offer… problem, I didnt received any confirmation so I wrote them to ask… and this morning still NOTHING! that not really nice… :stuck_out_tongue:

only 15 hours left and I dont have any confirmation… a lil piss off but lets see probably they got to many emails in the last few hours? :stuck_out_tongue:

Just booked them and called up. They said their billing guys start at 8am EST (1.25 hours more to go) plus, they ‘call’ their clients to verify them

Yeah, I just talked about with the live chat and they told me the same…
not the best customer experience, even sending a simple confirmation email that they got my money would have been more than nothing… :stuck_out_tongue:
