When credits were an option it was not applied but since then it’s always been there
For what it’s worth this is not exclusive to envato - it just appears under different names or ways of applying it eg admin charges, platform charge, processing fee, transaction fees etc.
It’s for all the “handling” they do. And that’s on top of the buyers fee… and the author fee.
