Download Previews

#1

Shouldn’t there be an option to download the preview video on videohive? Might be helpful for people that want to show a client something and if the client likes it they will buy it.

#2

Nice idea, could be useful.
There should be a thread with all the suggestions for improvement, the developers will go through and improve the things they think are important.

#3

Yes, nice idea. But this days, with a simple Real-Player anyone can download any FLV on the net. If the action it’s allowed, of course

#4

Just look at the code, find (ctrl+f) .flv, and you will see link for download preview…

#5

There are a few add-ons / plug-ins for firefox that RIP video content with ease. Wont mention what they are but they are out there.

#6

^ yes, that’s the easiest.

one more way

check embed code and link is after <embed width=‘638’ height=‘390’ flashvars='file=

in this for http://s3.envato.com/files/xxxxxxx/preview_filename.flv

guys lol I think you are losing the point… the ease of use would be nice. Just like how audiojungle has a download preview button.

#8

I understand. Just passing on a work around for the time being.

would be a good feature i think.

ok ok  I know what is the point but baf and me just tried to show alternative ways for download. I had same request about one year ago (click)

I afraid that we will have problem: what if I download lot of preview files (flv), and later… how can I know what is link for item? :S

Devs please think about it.

an idea for this would be when you download the flv it is renamed to whatever the file is called or the item number. Example would be: “name-of-project-file-on-videohive.flv” or “16839403.flv” Although it seems that you can’t search for the project number on videohive… so maybe just the item name

I know this topic is kinda dead, but I arrived here looking for something I ended up making up myself.
My internet connection is not great and preview files are best saved than streamed online.

So just create a new bookmark for you browser, name it “Save VH preview” (this is not relevant) and as the url paste this really noob but effective Javascript:

javascript:var item_title = document.title; var preview_url = previewConfigs[0].preview_url; var hyperlink = "Downloading preview for " + item_title + "Direct link to .flv file

Click directly or Save as
" + item_title + "

"; var dialogBox=confirm("Download preview file for \r" + item_title + " ?"); if (dialogBox==true){download_window = window.open('http://about:blank','download_window','width=640,height=200,menubar=1,resizable=1');download_window.moveTo(0,0);download_window.document.writeln(hyperlink);}else{};

EDIT: I recommend you use the plain text version and pay no attention to the code posted here. Also, this works with Google Chrome only (my fav). But if people request an improved script I will certainly make it work.

This is my first entry ever (and actually my first time at coding something myself), and since I wont know how all the code will look like, here is the url to download in plain text:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/24887772/savePreview_js.txt

Hopefully it will be useful to some of you guys.
Cheers, and thanks for all the amazing help provided.

Does it still work?

Yes, it could be very smart to have a download button. Especially for stock footage, like that, videohive authors could use it on their after effects templates preview. That could be a good thing for promote stock footage in another way.
