Do I have to update my theme?

I manage a ThemeForest-based website on WordPress for my church. I try to keep things as simple as possible. I’ve received a notification from Envato that an update to my theme is available. Do I need to install this update to keep the site functioning properly? I’d prefer to leave things as is if possible. Thanks for any help!

It’s always best to keep your theme updated at all times. However if you have made multiple changes in the main theme and don’t have time(paid) then you can keep it as is. But any included plugins or any security update should be applied partially.

Thanks so much for the quick reply. When I installed the theme, Envato support customized some things like the nav bar width and color. Do you know if those customizations would be retained when I update?

if the update done in parent theme then for updating to latest version you will loss all customization. but if customization done in child theme then customization will be safe. and there is a possibility some theme settings options can be effected.

Please contact your purchased theme author and ask them about the customization and update effect.

Note: better to keep a full backup before doing any update.

If you update the parent theme is it also updating the child theme too?

no, update will be done by specificly. so, parent theme update will not replace child theme but for updating parent theme few functionality can be affected if those functionality come from parent theme and updated by author in latest version.

Hello!
I have updated the Moodle’s theme lambda according to the lastest Envato Market’s e-mail received but now my favicon has gone (there’s a Moodle favicon, instead). How do I have to do to upload my own favicon in my Moodle?

I mean set it from theme options or something like that (check in documentation). better to ask it to theme author. Thanks

I’ve checked the lambda theme on my Moodle and I didn’t find any favicon option (but for the Adaptable theme there’s an option to change the favicon!!).
Where can I get documentation about this subjet? I googled it but I didn’t find.
I already sent a message to the lambda’s theme author and I hope to receive an answer.
