I apologize in advance for a question that I’m sure has been answered before. I just can’t seem to find a relevant response.
I’ve received notice that there’s an update to my theme. I’ve downloaded the zipfile from ThemeForest, but before I send it to my outsourced Tech guy to handle, I have to ask.
Shouldn’t I be able to manage theme updates from my Dashboard, as I do with Add-Ins? Do theme updates really need to be handled from the Host Server side?

If you purchased the theme from Envato market then to get auto-update features you can use Envato Market WordPress Plugin. This plugin helps customers receive updates to their premium WordPress Themes & Plugins purchased through Envato Market (ThemeForest & CodeCanyon).
you can download the plugin from here:

otherwise you can download the update version from Envato Market Downloads page and update manually using ftp.

Note: Better to keep a full backup before doing the update.
