Absolutely, buyers can be wrong or inexperienced. But are authors in the business of taking advantage of someone’s lack of experience, or do they want to provide items which work for buyers?
The point I am making is that the more a buyer has to be wary and on their toes before making a purchase, the fewer sales are made in the long run.
We need to incentivize making information available easily to the buyer, and this information also includes many things the authors don’t want to publicize - like negative reviews, plugin incompatibility, etc. Pushing this research onus on the buyer doesn’t mean they actually do take it upon themselves, it just leads to dissatisfaction and the kind of reviews we see. Deleting reviews after refunds exacerbates the situation by hiding this information.
