Doesn’t matter how we treat all this experiment and its result. It always important to know what Envato plan to do next.
Thank you very-very much for that information.
Since envato moved to the US, stupid decisions have been made. Sorry to point out but US is a nation of greedy people as i was shocked to read the article on sales coming from the US will be taxed. Envato will surely get their share of sale but US government too. Thats lame!!
Translation in other words: “Go away guys! Here is a place only for older items”
Ya, look like that.
Maybe Halloween is coming soon? I feel I’m in the hell
James,
If you set the best seller as the default, then there will be no change on the main page for a long time, it would cause the boring feeling. The buyers will never see the change on the main page like it used to be. What’s making sense here? I’ve tried to ask some friends to see the Blog Magazine category page, ask them to find the newest items, they even don’t know how to do that as the result because the filter on the right corner is very difficult to be realized. Most of them look for the left sidebar where a ton of filters there. You must consider this. You would keep a dozen of best sellers but you will lose all of the other authors and the new ones who are always have the trending design for the Marketplace. Are you having the plan to keep those old designs and kill all new items? Please let me know then I can feel free to leave although this causes me frustrating.
Let’s see what would happen. I’m appreciated what Envato had done before. Now I know that you want to be like the other smaller Marketplaces. You are copying what they had done several years ago by putting the best sellers at first. If you decided to now not showing the sale counter on each item, then you will be exactly like Why don’t you keep the things that use to bring success and improve them, but follow the things from the smaller Marketplaces where they have no chance to compete you because of this way? Please do something …
You said it right. In the beginning best sellers could mean more income for Envato and a select few. But after a while it will become boring to see the same items pop up all the time.
Hello!
So maybe you should first make a new design, test it, and then only enter on all sites?
And not first to change sorting, that would kill all sales, and only then to think over solution this problems
Now the majority is a decline in sales, at this point, and the new design you just promise and it has not yet been implemented (again, no specific terms you have not given)
An idea for the Envato team: maybe you should run a test and add a new item in menu similar to Popular Items: Latest Items
Cheers!
Yes, they are focusing to show the popular items everywhere. New items will not have any chance nowadays. So let’s focus to make another Avada theme LOL
Hello, i have feedback about the new category design.
As you can see, you guys added to images that gives the buyer the choice to browse few sub-categories.
The problem is that they are too big, too much and unnecessary (the page have 4 of them), i don’t like it, they are taking too much space of the page (Literally 80% of my screen). which will make the buyer scroll more to reach the New items block section (or any other section).
So i suggest you to either remove them or reduce their height.
You know buyers can still explore any sub-category from the navigation bar so i prefer removing them.
The new items block section could be in that place. which is a plus, it will make the category show more items to the buyer which will increase conversion rate.
A new product can be listed in only one category that is newest item. It can never be in best seller, top rated, trending, best weekly selling or monthly selling. So if you hide the newest item, the product will vanish permanently from buyer eyes. Envato saying new authors to stay away.
This is maybe irrelevant, but I think envato can do a removing items operation for old items, cause I think some author have some items that they don’t want to sell anymore, they might just forgotten to remove, so you can send emails to each authors to ask them which item that they want to remove from their portfolio.
I don’t think that there is anyone who doesn’t want profit from his/her items. Some old items are useful and they have sales till today, but it is an other story if system brings back items that have stopped being sold. A good idea would be to be ingnored (not deleted) such items that were best sellers before 10 or 9 years and they dont have a single sale for three months or more. And if the sales will come back, they can be shown again.
Honestly, I think that would be a good thing. I see lots of un-updated, 2-3 star items.
Why Best rated category choise automaticly in one year ? Are our last 3 years of customer satisfaction efforts thrown away? Why do you apply this to the bestseller field when you’re showing the 6-year templates? This will cause serious problems, consider these updates a little more.
By making random updates, you cannot waste your professional efforts of the authors in this way!
This change is deleterious for new items and authors! Please, think again and listen to us. If really you want maintain this change, you should improve seriously the visibility of new items in multiple ways, not only with the new category. For example with new dedicated sections, more campaign, email marketing, social network activity and more.
Please, think about the new authors, it’s important maintain the best quality on Envato with new and updated items.
Does anyone here actually believe this was an experiment? Really?
The market generates 90% of it’s income from 10% of it’s authors. That equals Power.
It’s no surprise they needed to change their business model.
No inspiring creativity required here these days.
Fly away fledglings and don’t give up. Another World awaits …
Why do you guys even bother posting the experiment here if you’re not even listening to majority of authors? Pointless!
