I find myself getting angered lately about the smallest things, and I need to remember that the internet is like a magnifying glass for opinion. It’s not really a rational place and spending too much time there can mess with your head! I guess being cooped up for a year takes it’s toll aswell, and I think that affects the capacity for patience. Well, it does for me anyway.
I often need to remind myself that things said in text are missing the expression of human interaction and often meaning can be misread because the bodylanguage isn’t there to reiterate the true intent of a communication. I think it’s important for me to remember that we are communicating here in a common language which for some is not their native tongue. As an English speaker currently trying to learn Spanish, I am so grateful that those from non-native English speaking countries are able to communicate in a second language, and I am often embarrassed at my inadequacy in that department. With that in mind, it is unsurprising that sometimes things will be lost in translation, especially regarding the subtle differences in how words are used in different cultures. I think the people here in these forums are good people who’s intent is generally well-meaning and it helps me to think that the folks here don’t start out with the intent to offend or upset anyone.
