2020 Envato Mid-Year Sale - Campaign FAQ

General information

What is the Mid Year Sale Campaign?

In a time where there is greater need to communicate and stay connected online, Envato Market is hosting a large-scale Mid Year Campaign to showcase items that help businesses and individuals build or improve their online presence. This could be in the form of (but not limited to) social media, marketing, websites, eCommerce and more.

This campaign will feature 30% to 50% off ~500 items from ThemeForest, CodeCanyon, GraphicRiver, VideoHive, AudioJungle on a dedicated campaign landing page, with a focus on current high performing and new author-nominated items.

The campaign landing page will be promoted through Envato’s marketing channels, including on-site promotion, email and affiliates. Our Mid Year Sale campaign will be live between Tuesday 23rd June (12am UTC) and Wednesday 1st July (2pm UTC) 2020.

What types of items are you looking for?

We are looking for current high performing items and popular new items.

Anything that helps businesses or individuals build or improve their online presence or connect to their customers will be considered for the campaign. Whether that be through social media, marketing, websites, eCommerce and more.

This information is intended as a guide and our campaign selection will not be limited - we’re always on the lookout for unique items that bring value to our customers.

Detailed timeline of events

  • Monday, 18 May: We launch the nomination process (you’re reading it right now!)
  • Sunday, 24 May: Item nominations close. Remember to set your item price before this date (so if you’re experimenting with price at all, make sure it’s set to your normal price by this date).
  • Saturday, 30 May: We will inform the authors of selected items and provide more details via email.
  • Monday 22 June: Promotional prices are automatically applied to selected items at 2pm UTC
  • Tuesday, 23 June: The campaign landing page is live at 12am UTC, campaign marketing starts from 5am UTC.
  • Wednesday, 1 July: Promotional campaign ends at 2pm UTC

Nominating items

Are there minimum sales requirements for items in this campaign?

This campaign does not require minimum sales or ratings for item nominations. However, both will factor into our decision on what to include in the campaign.

How do I nominate a Discounted File for this campaign?

Follow the instructions in this thread:

Will the feature section of the landing page be used during this campaign?

Yes, there will be two sections of the landing page to display sale items. The majority of selected items will be displayed in the main sale section, while a limited number of items will receive special exposure in a feature section at the top of the campaign landing page.

The feature items are hand-picked by Envato staff from all items nominated by authors and represent the best value items Envato Market has to offer. While we can’t promise that your items will definitely be chosen, we’d love to see the best of your portfolio nominated for consideration.

All items will be displayed for the full duration of the campaign period.

Item selection

How and when will I be told if my item(s) are chosen to be on the landing page?

We will contact all authors whose items are selected for promotion on the landing page by Saturday 30th May. Please note that we will only contact authors whose items have been selected for promotion on our campaign page.

What if I want to withdraw my nomination?

If you’ve changed your mind, please contact us via communitymarketing@envato.com and we will remove your item nomination.

If my item is selected will it remain on the landing page throughout the entire promotion?

Probably! We’ll be periodically reviewing the page to make sure we’re putting our best foot forward in promoting great deals for our customers, and to make sure buying customers have certainty around pricing and the extent of discounts.

For items to stay on the landing page, they’ll have to meet the promotional criteria for the whole campaign period. So for those items which do not meet the promotional criteria (ie, if you remove the discount, or attempt to re-price relevant sale items during the sale period), either:

  • those items will automatically be removed from the promotion page (but will of course remain for sale on Envato Market); or
  • the discount will automatically re-applied, at the previously determined discounted rate.

Plus to maintain a cohesive ‘look and feel’ we reserve the right to add or remove items from the landing page for any reason at our sole discretion.

Will you add more items during the sale?

We occasionally need to add new items during a promotion, if other items have been removed from the sale. If we need to add additional items during the campaign, we’ll select these from the main campaign nomination list, and contact the authors via their Envato Market email address. We’ll aim to provide at least 24 hours notice to these authors.

How are items selected?

All items nominated must meet the criteria selection on the nomination threads. Items for the promotional page will then be chosen by the Envato Marketing team.

Who is responsible for changing the price of items?

All item prices will be automatically changed before the campaign goes live, at 2pm UTC on Monday 22nd June 2020. See above about changes to item prices during the campaign period, and what that means for eligibility.

After the promotion ends, your item will automatically return to its original price at 2pm UTC on Wednesday 1st July You may want to leave the original price in place or set a different price altogether. As with all pricing decisions under our Author-Driven Pricing policy, that’s entirely up to you.

What happens after I nominate my item(s)?

  • If your item(s) are selected, we will contact you via the email address registered for your Envato Market account.
  • We will provide information about how and when your item price will be changed.
  • We will provide a marketing image to use on your item page for the duration of the campaign.
  • Selected items will be added to our dedicated landing page, which will be launched on Tuesday 23rd June.

Any other questions?

If you’ve got any related questions, just reply to this forum topic  Everything you post here will be read by our team. Anything pertinent and/or important will be added to the FAQs, and we’ll post updates when new questions and answers have been added.

Hi, there,

Great initiative!
I would gladly participate to this promotion. Everything looks clear in the requirements and my CodeCanyon item seems to fit the bill.
I have only one question: from what you wrote above, it looks like we have to keep the current price of the item and the promotional price will be applied automatically for the items selected by Envato for this promotion. Is that correct?

Thanks for this opportunity.

EDIT: Sorry for the dumb question: I have just opened the submission form and everything is clarified in the Terms & Agreement at the bottom.

Hi @PerfectPeach! There are no dumb questions - it’s always worth clarifying these things

Yes - any items that are selected for this campaign will have their prices automatically changed to the agreed discount (30, 40 or 50%) at the beginning of the campaign, on June 22.

Those sale prices will also be automatically returned to their previous rate at the end of the campaign on July 1st - this part is a bit different to previous campaigns, reflecting some process and automation changes for the marketplaces.

Thanks for your further clarification, @BenLeong!
I have already submitted my items and look forward to any updates on this promotion.

Kudos to you and the whole Envato Team for extending us this opportunity.

Hi, @BenLeong,

I hope you don’t mind if I have another question, this time it is a little more specific.
In the submission form we were asked whether we are part of the affiliates program or not.
I admit I had never contemplated that possibility in the past but after submitting I registered and was approved right away.

Hence the question: do we have to notify you about that change? and how? does that change affect anyhow our eligibility for this promotion?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Best,
Luigi.

No worries - Affiliate status doesn’t affect your eligibility in any way.

I can update your submission for you - that section is included on the nomination form so our Affilates team has some info on how many participating authors are also active Affiliates.

Great, BenLeong! Thank you so much for taking care of this. This thread is starting looking like a private chat…

Thanks again for your support…
My kindest regards,
Luigi.

Always better to post in a FAQ thread, instead of scattering the conversation among lots of private messages

Speaking of which - thanks to all those who nominated items for this campaign! Nominations are now closed, and the Campaigns team is busy selecting the items for the landing page. We received almost 6k items in total, so they have a lot to go through.

If your item is selected, you should receive a confirmation email (via the address listed for your account in Envato Market) on May 30.

Hi, @BenLeong,

This morning I received the reminder from Envato about the imminent start of the Mid-Year Sale. At the bottom of the email, I found the following recap, which is somehow wrong. My item is currently seelng at $26 and has been for more than one year now. In a previous email from the Marketing team, the discounted price was correctly announced as $15. Are you aware of any errors in the calculation that has just been sent out by that email reminder?

Hi @PerfectPeach calculation is fine, nothing wrong.
Discounted item price: $10 + Buyer fee $5 = $15
So, your codecanyon item will be sold at $15

Thanks for clarifying, @mgscoder.
I thought that could be the answer. It was confusing just because the other email I received from Jess at Marketing mentioned the full price.

Anyway, thanks again for the clarification.

Hi @BenLeong,

I just realized that discount price is already scheduled & no changes can be done. However i found that discount price is applied on only Regular license.

I will need to give discount for Extended License also, as my most earning come from Extended License sell. But now i can’t reduce the extended price . Though I have already contacted support desk to reduce it, didn’t got reply yet.

Would you please let me know , how can i reduce 50% of extended license price now ?

I think the new Discount Management system should have option for Extended License Management also.

Hi! Discount has been applied about 7 hours ago, but there is still no landing page with discounted items or any banner on the index page. Can you please explain why?

Sorry for the late reply - my family has been in and out of hospital over the last few days, and I’ve missed a lot of messages. I can see that Jess has already responded to many enquiries on the communitymarketing@envato.com email account though.

The landing page went live earlier today, and should be accessible here:

If it’s still not showing up in your part of the world, try again in an hour or so - you may need caches to update, particularly if you viewed that URL just before the landing page went live. We publish the landing page before the formal marketing launch, as there are several things that need to be tested behind the scenes.

Our Marketing launch is on track to start in about 90 minutes, with banners, affiliates and some social channels going live. The rest of the social media content starts a few hours later, and then our customer emails will be deploying in batches for the optimal delivery time in each region.
