Does it often happen that themes (popular ones at that) disappear like that from one day to the next?

It says over there “item removed by either staff of the author”
I knew that but it doesn’t answer my question 
Is it the author? The staff? For what? Security reasons or something else? Now i have to buy a new theme and do a migration…
They won’t give a reason there.
It might be temporary - worth contacting the author who would be able to confirm

Found it after some research because the theme page is 404.
