What is the real fee that envato takes?

Hello,

I added my product on codecanyon and its getting some sales. My product is listed at $20 and i am getting only $9.38 on most of the sales that is 46.9% in total. I know that the fee is around $37.50. But why it’s taking additional percntage than $37.50? I am non-american author.

You pay author fee and in some cases US withholding tax on base of your gross income.
Your gross income is the List Price - Buyer Fee

List Price: $20.00
Fixed Buyer Fee for CodeCanyon WP: $5.00

without US withholding tax:
Gross income: $20.00 - $5.00 = $15.00
Author Fee: $15.00 * 0.375 = $5.63
Earnings: $15.00 - $5.63 = $9.37

with US withholding tax:
Gross income: $20.00 - $5.00 = $15.00
Author Fee: $15.00 * 0.375 = $5.63
US Tax: $15.00 * x = y
Earnings: $15.00 - y - $5.63 = z
