What is the benefit of Themeforest's follower & following system?

Hi everyone, I’m not sure about the benefit of Themeforest’s follower & following system. For example, if I have a lot of followers, what are the benefits to me? Do you have a system in place to notify them that a new version of my theme has been released or that a new theme has been added, etc.? If so, how? Can author do it on its own or is it provided by Themeforest?

If you follow the authors, the authors item comes on some pages so you don’t have to browse everything. It’s automatic. I don’t think there’s any other benefit, it’s more like a “bookmark” feature.
