Hi I’m new to envato - When I download a video template, do I need special software to customize the video?

Yes, you need to have After Effects to open the template.
Is After Effects hard to use or is it user friendly for those who are graphically challenged?
After Effects has a friendly UI, and easy to use, all the templates here has a tutorial to show you how to customize it, it’s just about replacing texts and images.
Wrong. Not every project made in After Effects.
There are 4 type of projects on Videohive: After Effects, Premiere Pro, Apple Motion, Cinema 4D.
Each project opens in a corresponding program.
Yes, you’re right I forgot to mention that, I assumed he will use after effects 
I guess somebody here has not a “friendly UI” to answer and make corrections to others 
Thank you. I was told After Effects is more challenging than Camtasia (which I have limited ability). My goal is just to be able to download video templates and customize the text, images and sound. I was hoping there was a simple way to achieve this without having to have a strong design/technical background.
Hi there,
many templates on videohive come with easy to follow instructions for doing the basic tasks like changing texts, swapping out media and rendering the final video.
Most template authors are aware that there are many people new to after effects who like to use our templates, so we aim our documentation at beginners.
At least my documentation takes the user by the hand and if you stumble upon problems I’m here to help you via mail. Many authors do the same.
If you just like to try it out for free, I’d recommend to download the trial version of After Effects and to download the free file of the month on videohive, for February 2019 it is this file.
Then you can see if it is a feasible task for you. (I don’t know the quality of the documentation of the free file, though).
