What is the difference between a Theme and a Template?

theme can be used for any cms/mvc (as like wordpress, prestashop, opencart, magento) where template (html) can be used as site template, joomla template can be used for joomla cms. each cms/mvc theme and template has their own coding style.

It’s basically same as @mgscoder explained, the reason is to prevent wrong purchases at ThemeForest, therefor Envato changed their title requirements.

I just posted another question regarding hosts that accommodate the use of 3rd party templates? Thus far I’m running into the dilemma of hosts not allowing 3rd party templates to be imported/uploaded.

Any suggestions or advice?
