Selling Subscription-Based Digital Service – Regular or Extended License?

I want to create a website with WordPress to sell a digital service via a subscription, which is provided on another platform (Laravel).

In the first phase, customers will need to contact me through a contact form, and I will send them the keys. (As I understand, a Regular License is sufficient for this.) Later, I may add WooCommerce for automated sales, allowing customers to download the keys from the member area.

Do I need an Extended License for this?

Is the service/service site related to an Envato item?

If you just want to build a site to sell a service to an entirely different and unrelated site then regular is ok

No, it’s not related to an Envato item. Customers purchase a subscription for this service, and inside the member area, they will be able to view their subscription details and access their API key/secret to use my service.

Is it still Regular fine?

Thank you for your answer

You likely need an Extended License from Envato.

Since customers are paying for a subscription to access your service, and you are providing API keys/secrets as part of that paid access, this qualifies as a service where the end product requires users to pay to use it. According to Envato’s licensing terms, if you are charging end users for access, you need an Extended License rather than a Regular License.

Does it matters that my end product is not served from Wordpress but from another site? It’s only the information of the subscription.

The Envato item is a website to sell an item - the thing people are paying to subscribe and access to is independent so not licensed by the same rules.

If that end service was an Envato item then you would need an extended license but as it is now you don’t.
