Sales almost stopped from last 4-5 days

Same boat here. USA market dropped since 1 year.

In fact, discounts have never worked for us. Usually increase sales slightly while significantly reducing revenue. On the contrary, the higher the price, the greater the total income with less customer support. I also recommend giving up elements.

Yes, US buyers are almost invisible where we used to have 50% sales from US

Yes, they never worked for me as well. Anyways what is the point of author selling on discounts when Envato remains super excited for a new sale every next month

Increasing prices 3 years back in-fact helped me to sustain till now.

Themes & Plugins should not be there on Elements. It is devaluing our work and demotivating for authors like me who used to devote 100% of their time for the market.

Was curious on others experiences. Iā€™ve done discounts (like 5-8 dollar tracks) in the past for my own personal ā€œBlack Fridayā€ type thing. Never amounted to any extra sales or anything really. Iā€™ve honestly never made enough here to make a living off of. But was curious on others if they lowered prices if it had any actual effects, seems that it hasnā€™t really.

I canā€™t speak for other parts of the Marketplace, but just from my own personal experiences. I still register with a PRO and I get some stuff from AdRev on occasion. Very tough market (no pun intended) out there these days.

The point is the complete earnings unpredictability. Past two weeks were good.
This one started decently in the first hoursā€¦ then a disasterā€¦!

However I canā€™t say this October is terrible, but Iā€™m pretty sure itā€™s because of the system I adopted, back in 2022 (Envato prevented me to advertise here because of their rules about auto-promotionā€¦).

Iā€™m gonna share (again) some suggestions/stats derived from 18 months of usage statistics. But first let me say: itā€™s VERY funny to hear all these complaints and, even if some initially showed interest, NO ONE even used its trial period!

I canā€™t talk for musicians (even tough I know very well Elements is great for you!) but WordPress plugin/theme developers should know the real resources nowadays are existing customers and is to be super strict about rules adherence. Is stupid to expect the same customers number we had back in the days (for various reasons).

Anyway: two stats since March 2022 (when I started using the new system, forcing customers to register their licenses)

  1. To create discounts or lower your prices is simply a suicide. My priciest item grants the 27% of my net incomes even if it has less than half sales compared to the product selling the most in the same period. So: focus on quality. Even support renewals will give you much more in the long term

  2. 2022 over 2023 comparison: even with the super structure I set up, sales are slowly decreasing. However there is not a big gap, specially thinking about the huge boost I had initially, when thousands of customers had to renew their support entitlements to still get automated updates.

  3. This summer has been a REAL, frightening, nightmare. Weekends are almost dead since long time.

  4. To release new standalone products is just like throwing them in a black hole

I could also talk about the good trial-licenses-to-sales trend, but you canā€™t have a direct comparison with your data, so itā€™s useless.

Finally: itā€™s a pity Envato doesnā€™t share data about support renwals: they are a relevant part of our incomes (specially mine, forcing customers to have support entitlement in order to have auto-updates). Actually with discontinued Google Analytics integration is impossible to have a clear incomes situation.

I think itā€™s due to the new Elements deal that has been running for the past 2-3 weeks. I have no idea when it started but this is the 3rd week Iā€™m noticing of almost non existant sales in codecanyon.

If you were making 30 - 35 sales a week, now itā€™s down to 7-8 sales. If you were making 7 - 8 sales a week, now you are making 1-2 sales, even zero. Thatā€™s what Iā€™ve been able to observe from the top seller in my category. Of-course there are some exceptions but in general the vast majority are affected. Iā€™ve never seen something like this happen in the past.

The exclusive 30% OFF Elements deal ends in a few hours and I think itā€™s worth monitoring the advancements of sales after this period.

Iā€™m very disappointed with Envato. It is a very sad moment to be an author in codecanyon.

And as always complete silence from the staff like we donā€™t even exist!

This subscription model is going to eat the marketplace in the next couple of years I believe. Envato will keep it live for authors to just publish items for Elements but with no sales from here.

What should we expect if they do reply? Some condolence message

Well, I too was expecting to see a response to tell us they turned the switch back on and it was all just a mistake, thankyou very much for reporting.

But we all have to wake up to reality and hereā€™s what is going to happen. The only response we will receive is going to be in Feb 2024. They will release a public Impact Statement to celebrate the great successes the marketplace has enjoyed in 2023 and the various milestones reached.

Iā€™d be really curious to know what happened after wednesday afternoon (CET). Basically zero since that.

Even in the middle of July I made more.
I had a 110$ sale ā€œreversedā€ after few minutes without a reason (Iā€™m waiting Envato to tell me more about thisā€¦) and in general looks like the desert.

ON/OFF. Without a reason. With same pageviews as always.
Bahā€¦ a good month, totally ruinedā€¦

Yes it never been so bad, it makes no senseā€¦

First, the sales are gone and second, I have a huge number of sale reversal. I have 5 in the last week. 4 refer to the same item.

Sometimes I also wonder if there is some sort of on/off switch. Itā€™s puzzling how, with consistent pageviews, there are days when nothing sells - sometimes a dozen or so hours, and as soon as the day ends, sales return to normal and are consistent until the end of the day. Sales fluctuations are significant this month. Day-to-day declines of approximately 70% and thatā€™s a lot.

I had exactly the same feeling.

I think they have set some sort of parameters for each author. In last few months I noticed my average 80% sales in the first 20 days and then last 10 days of no to bare minimum single sale a day so in total I get that small average amount where I had chances to earn more.

Surely something is happening, we also have almost 40% less sales this month.

The truth is out there.

Instead of having sales this month we are still getting reverse sales.
Just now one more.
Even in 3 years I have not received such a large number.
