I am looking for a theme/template I can use for my computer training company and computer based testing center. I need to be able to list training courses, course outlines and ideally have an integrated course calendar and bookings (using paypal integration). You can refer to http://www.nobledesktop.com/ to get an idea of the type of website I need. I am not a big fan of big photo gallery sliders filling up the home screen.
You’re going to struggle to get one IMHO as there is a lot of work involved to build a system you want.
I just built one for a client and it took 2 months of development which included:
- custom design
- Booking system build
- Payment system
This cost the client $10k in total
You might be able to find a theme but then you would need to implement a booking / payment system and then modify the theme to display the events how you like.
Hi Gareth,
Thank you for your reply. Wouldn’t it be possible and a lot easier to for instance incorporate something like a bookeo or comparable plugin?
That’s what we did (we use Event manager) but you still have a lot of customisation to do with creating the layouts for the plugins.
We whacked in over 1700 hours on the website which I don’t think a TF author would do for a $50 theme unfortunately.

If you’re wanting a low cost method (I don’t consider $39.95/mo Bookeo low) then use a Wordpress page for each course, Google calendar plugin for scheduling, and basic PayPal buttons for registration. Plenty of themes are available to make it look professional. If it’s just a couple of people doing site administration this would be ideal.
[updated] There’s a new plugin on Wordpress.org called Classdex that looks like it will do what you want. Since it is so new I would advise that you test it thoroughly first before deciding to base your business on it.
Do this:
-
Get one of this Wordpress theme: http://themeforest.net/category/wordpress/corporate?utf8=✓&sort_by=sales_count&categories=wordpress%2Fcorporate
-
Get the booking plugin.
2(a). For your course calendar/bookings you need a booking plugin made for a restaurant/hotel. Grab one from here: http://codecanyon.net/search?utf8=✓&term=booking (you can look for restaurant’s theme too, but it will be hard to much the design).
2 (b). Alternatively, buy “WooCommerce Booking & Appointment Plugin” by Tyche Softwares, it cost $79 and will do the job too.
3.Install theme and plugin.
Read documentation and you will get the website (design+ functionality) up and running in one or two days.
If you are looking for someone who can get this done for you, I would estimate $250 for this installation job if you have a website plan, website sitemap, and the content done. Search for freelancer on this site or jobs.wordpress.net.
