Hello everyone,
I hope you’re doing well. I recently submitted my app, Smart To Do App - Task Manager (built with Vue.js, Typescript, and TailwindCSS), to Codecanyon. Unfortunately, the submission was hard rejected, and I’m looking for some guidance on what I might improve.
About the App:
It’s a task management app with features like:
- Task creation, editing, and deletion.
- Filtering and sorting tasks by priority and status.
- Calendar view integration.
- Dark mode and responsive design.
- TailwindCSS for styling and Vue.js 3 Composition API for architecture.
Feedback from Codecanyon:
I’ve attached the rejection email for reference. They mentioned that it doesn’t meet the quality standard, but I didn’t receive specific details on what to improve.
### My Questions:
- Has anyone experienced a similar rejection? What might be the common issues causing it?
- Is there a specific category or demand on Codecanyon where such an app might perform better?
- Are there any particular features or design elements that are essential for approval in this category?
- Do you think the codebase, design, or documentation might be lacking for Codecanyon’s standards?
I’ve spent a lot of time polishing the code and ensuring the app meets good development standards, so I’d really appreciate any advice or feedback from the community.
Thank you in advance for taking the time to review this. I look forward to learning from your insights!
Kind regards,
Ebrahim Mozaffari

With respect there are a number of fairly obvious issues:
-
the design is very outdated and lacks modern UX
-
the functionality is fairly limited and does not offer anything stand out our unique
-
there are tons of free options out there that offer the same as what is here so you need to bring something that warrants someone paying for it
-
To Do List Plugins, Code & Scripts | CodeCanyon similar items ave very low sales (most likely because of the vast number of free alternatives out there). Sales potential is another contributing factor to the review process
Thank you for your feedback, Charlie.
I really appreciate you taking the time to review my submission and providing honest insights.
If I change it to Admin Dashboard Template with better UX and many custom component with vue.js - typescript - TaiwindCss and pinia for state management, Is there any chance for approve my application ?
and which category is good for this idea ?
You cannot resubmit a hard rejected item without significant change.
I get there’s a fair amount going on from a technical perspective but ultimately the vast majority of buyers will not understand or appreciate that as long as an item looks and works well.
The ‘to do list’ idea feels very restricted especially as demonstrated by limited sales on other similar items.
It’s always going to be tough when there are built in to do options with Microsoft and apps like Monday.com etc. exist for free and have an extensive amount to offer.
Thank you for your response, Charlie.
I understand that “To-Do List” apps face tough competition from free and established platforms. Considering your feedback, I’m thinking about repurposing the app into an Admin Dashboard Template with a more polished UX and additional features like custom charts, analytics widgets, and integrations.
Would this direction fit better within Codecanyon’s expectations? If so, which category would be more suitable for such a project?
I appreciate your guidance and would love to hear any suggestions to refine this idea further.
Depends on where you go with it but that sounds more suited to themeforest Admin HTML Website Templates | ThemeForest
It definitely has a greater level of appeal and options to add more uniqueness and value
Thank you so much for the guidance, Charlie. I really appreciate your insights.
I’ll start working on transitioning this into an Admin Dashboard Template and will focus on adding more unique features to increase its appeal. I’ll also explore the Themeforest Admin HTML category as suggested.
Thank you again for your support.

You need to focus on submitting more items and generating sales on the main marketplaces to prove the value in items being added to elements
