Finally registering my portfolio on Identifyy...

I’ve already found out what is the problem, which is quite complex… Let me explain it again:

  1. CID system is made by Youtube/Google and managed by Youtube and CID services like Haawk and AdRev.

  2. Youtube/Google probably decided that whole system is gigantic so they have to limit number of claims. They probably decided that <30sec tracks will generally generate too small cash to care about them. This in theory should make whole system more efficient… What a pity it was not <14 sec… Or even <29sec.

  3. This is why some CID services like AdRev (had?) accept tracks <30sec but Youtube/Google simply ignore them. This is why Identifyy stopped accepting such tracks few months ago.

  4. Few years back Youtube/Google introduced “snippets” which means that someone can upload a video with only few seconds of your track and it can generate a claim.

  5. I think that CID does not scan videos shorter than 30sec. This one has to be confirmed though. What a pity it was not <29sec… I have a feeling that many standard 30s tv commercials are omitted by CID just because… They do not pass the 30sec limit…

  6. Yep, it is possible to make and upload a longer track than 30 seconds which contains same material as the short logo version. This will allow to make a “snippet” matches but only in videos longer than 30 seconds… Keep in mind that few seconds of your music will statistically make less money than 2-minute track. And keep in mind that many short 1-track videos like e.g. commercials and banners will be omitted by the system.

In other words short idents will be probably too short to be found by snippet function and earnings could be small.

Longer logos like 28sec are mostly used in short videos. CID can find only the videos which have +30sec.

Maybe someone would like to test it in a wider context? I only checked this on track or two (yep, it works) but it is too small number of tracks to decide wheter it is profitable or not.
