Did Envato check products what Authors sale?

Hi envato community and authors. I have a few questions about code review and quality of product.

For example if have a some script SaaS(Codeigniter), and developer doing some copy paste, or find/replace bulk files and that create some bugs, but its not effect for product, even some things not work correct like author write at change log.

What typical customer need to do if he dont have a skill such code review, just user who know how to login admin panel and edit settings like he need it.

Author who sale it for customers and they even dont know they bought product with bugs.

And one more question: Did envato moderators check how product going on? Can author manipulate buy small fix or changelog for keep customers longer and show them like product have updates, even this updates can get some 1-2 hour of work, but look like 1 month.

Why i ask, bcz i didnt see that info on envato documentations. Just see about when user have a problem, author must to be support or give them link how to fix that.

And about code mistakes or errors: i dont talk about some huge updates when solutions use third party api or library and need update it.
I talk about miss some words, misstyping, and this bug can go ahead 3-4 versions up.

Or author can do whatever he want, and dont care too much about customers get bad quality of product?

Bcz i think if authors use their awards from envato (sales, rating, etc) for marketing purposes, i think its must to be more fair with customers than make 100500 change logs. Thanks.

I want here answer from some moderator or Volunteer Community Moderator, bcz many author, many thinkings. Thanks

It sounds like you’re not enjoying the item you have purchased but remember that the item comes as it’s, if there’s any issues with the system, most of the authors provide updates but that doesn’t mean that even it’s 1-2 hour work, you’d be getting the update right away.

Authors may have lots of items and have their own priority with the items/jobs as well as they can manage their time as they wish, as Envato doesn’t own the items and they don’t have “power” to force the authors to update the items ( except some important cases ), it’s up to you if you want to hire a freelancer to get the item updated as soon as possible or you will have to wait for the author to update their items - even if it takes some cases more/around a month.

im understand what you say, but if author make mistake on 2 words at controller name, or make bad request to Database, with some data. And its not about technical issue, its personal inattention, bcz author think customer get it as its. How do you feel like a customer who dont have a experience waiting updates and waste time for that author. If im like a cusomer come to marketplace, see badge elite author, but its doesnt batter as well. Bcz elite or no elite, code have a bad things. I right or no?

I just want to know feedback, and just discuzz, im not report anybody, or charge money back. I just want to know how was going on for typical user.

P.S. im fullstack, i review code, and see that what dont see other customers who bought it.

From what I know, Envato relies on authors to maintain quality, but they do have guidelines and customers can report issues. If you’re facing bugs or questionable updates, reaching out to Envato support or leaving detailed feedback for the author might help.

Yes items are reviewed before release but there’s no option for envato to continue monitoring item.

Don’t forget envato is just a marketplace - they don’t own any items that are sold here so ultimately responsibility is with the author.

Unless an author is not supporting an item or is no longer interested in sales then it’s no in their interest to leave the item with errors, and the vast majority will make an effort to fix it esp if it was like your example and just a small naming issue.

There is a need to manage expectations (speaking as a team who have bought far more items than many other buyers):
a) we are paying a fraction of items’ value so it’s not unreasonable for an author to take a short while to fix any bugs.
b) often bugs need investigation. There are many many examples of instances where buyers are accusing authors/items of being broken when the issue is not due to the item itself
c) items are usually ‘supported’ however envato has a support policy so if the issue is not that an item is broken and is something else then this may not be the responsibility of the author

Elite author badge is not for the item quality, it’s for the item sale.
