Hahaha! No worries mate. You can imagine that Envato’s sole purpose in this is to provide a safer environment for buyers and authors alike. The purpose is not to ban you if you’re having a bad hair day, that’s for sure. Do the verification, if anything happens, get in touch with support. There are contingencies for all these scenarios even for Bedros hair day! (right back at you, haha! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:)

The current batch of Author ID checks covers people who have been primarily selling on ThemeForest for more than 12 months. Any ThemeForest author who created their account within the last 12 months should have already completed an Author ID check.

If you have some ThemeForest items but mostly sell on other marketplaces (e.g. CodeCanyon, GraphicRiver) you may be sent an Author ID check later on - we’re gradually rolling this process out across all our marketplaces.

Hi Joginder,

Thank you for completing your ID check. Your Envato account, Gambolthemes, is now verified.

Good luck with your item submissions and sales!

Hello there,

a few questions for you:

  1. I don’t see a way to check which ID I can use without starting the process (thus giving me only 15 minutes to complete it).

  2. What will happen to my personal information that I submit to you in case I decide to remove my account in the future? Will it be removed or will you keep it?

  3. How exactly does providing our personal documents to you lead to customers having more confidence when purchasing the items on your marketplace? I fail to understand this.

  4. Is our personal information going to be shared with anyone?

  5. In the email that I got from you, the following is stated:

our ID check will be released on the 2nd August, 2021 (Monday) and must be completed no later than the *29th August, 2021

And yet when I log into Envato verify, ti says that I only have about 6 days or so to complete this process.

Thank you!

I am not allowed to use my government issued passport for verification. Support says that I must use another document, but i don’t have one.

6 days left and all my items will be removed from ThemeForest. Guess i should make a sale

Hey mate, for your other questions, I suggest hitting up Envato Authors Help and Support

In regards to this. You can imagine that there is huge benefit to purchase from a market where you know that management has verified the authenticity of its sellers.

In the case of Envato, having verified authors adds a extra layer of security to accounts and also, extra accountability to authors. I can think of a tone of cases where authors with, let’s say, less moral values have uploaded copyright infringing material, blunt copied other authors, used material in the works from highly patented sources without any serious repercussions.

This in turn was a serious liability to both customers and Envato like, whereas, now, with verified accounts, copying patented / copyrighted material can have direct and legal consequences.

Furthermore, Envato has a few countries where they don’t accept business from (authors or buyers) as you remember back in 2015 / 2016 when this was introduced (more here).

Last but not least, before verifications, with a VPN, anyone with less noble intentions would fake their locations and identities. That is no longer possible as now you’re account is tied to an actual identity card.

All these measures provide a safe environment for authors, buyers and Envato alike! Since we’re here to actually create quality products and we care about our customers, this will not affect us at all, it only brings more customers in, knowing they’re in a safe environment. Cheers mate! :fist_right:t2: :fist_left:t2:

I’m not saying that you (or, Envato) mean that, but just because those people were born in the countries in question doesn’t mean that they have a tendency to “fraud,” just saying.

If Envato’s banning of those countries is required by the law, It’s not in Envato’s hands (obviously), then. But I can’t but say, It’s the policies of the so-called “developed/civilized” countries regarding the Middle East (and elsewhere) that is the main reason for the “situation” in the “banned countries” in the first place, which is quite ironic. And it’s always the people who are trying to do some honest work that pays the price. Sad.

And peoples’ being who they claim to be will (unfortunately) never automatically ensure that they will be following ethical practices: ie politicians

As I have mentioned before, I have also reported instances of “authors copying other authors’ work” in the past, but no one cared. Those people are still selling on this marketplace.

Just saying. :v: :innocent:

Hello @BenLeong

I need help with some questions…

My id proof is not matching with my First Name, Last Name(Personal Information, Billing Information) is it necessary to match?

(because when i registered i put first name last name something else)

Whether tax information(Means Name) must also match?

ID proof has nothing to connection these?

My Account - askbootstrap's profile on ThemeForest

Thanks @BenLeong

Hi all! I have some more answers to the questions raised so far:

I’ve checked with our support team, and it looks like your location requires a current international passport, driver’s license or national ID card.

@LA-Studio As you have received email confirmation that your ID check was successful, you won’t need to complete another check for that account. It looks like you were in an earlier batch, so you got in a bit earlier than most

Yes, the first and last name on your tax information must match the ID provided.

Note that if you need to update the name on your Envato Market account, you will also need to submit new tax forms with the correct name.

The list of ID types will vary depending on location, so you will need to start the process in order to see a full list of options for your country. If your ID check times out (15 minutes) we’ll send another link straight away.

I’m still checking on your other questions, but I can also clarify the timeline: once an ID Check is initiated, it will remain valid for 7 days. If it hasn’t been completed before then, we’ll issue a new one, and send a reminder email with the necessary details.

We’ll continue doing this until August 29, so there are a total of four weeks in which you can complete the ID Check process.
