AI thoughts

I find myself questioning when and how AI will truly replace developers.

Just today, I encountered a client who couldn’t figure out how to add a URL as the source for one of my plugins. If developers were to become obsolete, how would such crucial support be managed? Who would drive the innovation that we desperately need? Development is far more than just writing code—it’s an art form rooted in creativity and visionary thinking. Even the most skilled English prompter can only go so far; without a fundamental understanding of coding and the inner workings of technology, their efforts will be futile.

We are living in an unsettling era.

The potential for AI to fundamentally disrupt our society is evident, sparking fears of dystopian futures reminiscent of “Terminator” or “The Matrix.” Yet, we persist in pushing AI forward, primarily due to the relentless pursuit of profit, driven by greed and a troubling mindset that prioritizes revenue over well-being.

The reality is stark: the wealthy are poised to become extraordinarily affluent, while the average person risks being left behind, as jobs continue to vanish at an alarming rate.

While some may maintain a more optimistic perspective, I can’t shake the feeling that the future holds significant challenges. Additionally, I can’t help but wonder how profoundly AI is affecting sales on Envato.

Of course, there is the good side of it, but when did humanity make the right choice before the disaster?

I got a job request for an item is sold at CodeCanyon by another author ( modification request ) that they needed to integrate “auto translation” via API, the guy sent me a code written by AI and claiming that only thing I need to do to add the code to the script, which there were no API access key as well as the API URL didn’t exist.

AI is replacing “Google” already but on a long-term, I don’t think it’d be usefull. If you see the content that created by AI, it started to repeat itself just because there’s no “original” content anymore and I believe it’d happen to coding, too.

If it doesn’t, it’s time to start growing your own vegetables anyway… :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s impossible for AI to create original content out of nothing, This is a fundamental principle in physics known as the law of conservation of energy.
“Energy can neither be created nor destroyed; rather, it transforms from one form to another.”

I do use AI and is really useful, I just don’t understand how it will replace a proffesion, I mean a s a develoepr I understant what is under the hood and in most projects I get stuck at one bug, how will AI fix that bug if you don’t enve know how to describe it, this is my dilema, you still need to have firm grasp undersntaing how things work…
