I find myself questioning when and how AI will truly replace developers.
Just today, I encountered a client who couldn’t figure out how to add a URL as the source for one of my plugins. If developers were to become obsolete, how would such crucial support be managed? Who would drive the innovation that we desperately need? Development is far more than just writing code—it’s an art form rooted in creativity and visionary thinking. Even the most skilled English prompter can only go so far; without a fundamental understanding of coding and the inner workings of technology, their efforts will be futile.
We are living in an unsettling era.
The potential for AI to fundamentally disrupt our society is evident, sparking fears of dystopian futures reminiscent of “Terminator” or “The Matrix.” Yet, we persist in pushing AI forward, primarily due to the relentless pursuit of profit, driven by greed and a troubling mindset that prioritizes revenue over well-being.
The reality is stark: the wealthy are poised to become extraordinarily affluent, while the average person risks being left behind, as jobs continue to vanish at an alarming rate.
While some may maintain a more optimistic perspective, I can’t shake the feeling that the future holds significant challenges. Additionally, I can’t help but wonder how profoundly AI is affecting sales on Envato.
Of course, there is the good side of it, but when did humanity make the right choice before the disaster?
