This is the week before Black Friday, when customers all across the world are holding tightly to their wallets and waiting to see what will go on sale.

Envato Market launched the Cyber Sale a little earlier than usual this year, but my email inbox this week is flooded with updates from every brand I’ve ever purchased from. There has been a lot of competition from retailers already, but the largest sales traditionally launch for this Friday, and next Monday.

Many customers will be holding off on all non-essential purchases during November, waiting to see if more or better deals appear for other things they want to buy.

November is a rough time of year for anyone selling online. Before we started running Envato Black Friday / Cyber Monday sales (~6 years ago), this was the lowest sales period on the calendar every year for Envato Market. The campaign period has now become the highest sales period for each year by a significant margin, but sales immediately before and after it tend to be lower than average.

For Envato Market, we see the most customer activity on site on Black Friday itself (this Friday 29th), and once we publish our “final 48 hours” reminder at the end of the sale period next week.

Let’s stay hopeful. Hopefully, Envato Market will rise again. Currently, the only competition Envato faces is from its own Elements venture.There’s no other marketplace offering such a vast collection of premium items.

The same goes for us as well. It seems that maybe, since Envato has been acquired by Shutterstock, they are not as interested in promoting CodeCanyon items. In the past, they launched campaigns every one to two months, or sometimes even monthly. However, this year, I noticed they have launched only one campaign—CyberSale in November—after a gap of about six or seven months. I have no idea what the future holds or how we can sustain ourselves.
