Wordpress Plugin Update Servers

Recently I purchased a great plugin through Envato Market but soon discovered that I was not receiving update notices in WordPress admin panel. I only found out because Wordfence alerted me that my plugin was out of date. Long story short… Here is what I eventually learned from the developer:

“Seems your server can’t connect to update server. So, the only way is to update plugin manually. Any other plugins are updated from wordpress.prg. My plugin is updated from separate server.”

It is not realistic to go through a manual process. I received a refund, so no problem there.
My question is:

How do I know if a plugin updates from wordpress.prg BEFORE I purchase? I don’t want to find out after the purchase and have to go through refund scenario. I’m gun-shy now about purchasing plugins on Envato.

If your website using free plugin from wordpress.org then those plugin can be updated through wp-admin => Plugins but plugins from codecanyon will not update from wordpress.org because codecanyon premium plugins are not exist in wordpress.org.

If you purchased the plugin from envato market then to get auto update features you can use Envato Market WordPress Plugin. This plugin helps customers receive updates to their premium wordpress Themes & Plugins purchased through Envato Market (ThemeForest & CodeCanyon).
you can download the plugin from here:

otherwise you can download the update version from Envato Market Downloads page and update manually using ftp.

Thanks

thanks. I’m wondering why the developer didn’t tell me about this plugin. and I’m surprised it isn’t promoted as the solution to manual updates (do people really do that?). I purchased my theme from this account (from themeforest maybe?) and I have never had to manually update it, so I’m not sure what to expect going forward.

I’ve purchased other plugins outside of wordpress.org and never had this issue of manual updates come up. I will try this plugin and see how that works for me.
Thanks again for prompt response.
