Which professional monitoring/mixing headphones should I buy?

definitely.

For me I have now 2xKRK RP5’s and one pair of Sony MDR-7506.

I have a friend who recommended these Sony’s to me, and he’s working actively on AudioJungle
for 7 years now, have lots of excellent compose and sounding tracks,
uses analogue hardware racks as well as software,
and only works on…these headphones. :))

If you get to know them well, apparently you’ll do wonderful.

ps Probably he got to listen a lot of really-well mastered material in big studios from original CDs
so he actually now really understands them well, how much and where he has to put what frequencies.

cheers

Cut right to the chase with Audeze

If you want a closed pair (for working with noise around like people, dishwashers, children or traffic etc) the Focal Spirit Professional are great… Read some reviews. On gearslutz many feel one could use these for mastering even… Best around.

I use them when im working outside if the studio and have had no problems with mixes translation… Made some music for a documentary at Singapore airport, having to wait 5 hours for instance… Worth every penny…

but if I don’t want closed pair, what else you would fancy buying?

Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO!!! the best or nothing)))))

Hello,
I have used a lot of studio headphone : Sony, AKG, Focal, Presonus, Sennheiser, Beyer dynamic…
And now i use Beyer Dynamic DT 880 for mixing and mastering reference. Check the review on google for more information.
Hope it help you.

I have listened to DT 770. It is a close headphone, best for recording. I think DT 880 is better for mixing and mastering.
I have used both of them.

Closed headphones are not very good for mixing and mastering - open headphones are greater for this.

Good tracking headphones are the Corsair Vengeance 2100 which are affordable, can be worn one-eared and are great for musicians in the studio (and cheap enough as to be not too much of a problem if they get trashed by a frustrated muso.).

For monitoring on location the Logitech Wireless Headset H760 are the top of my list (and what I have used for almost 15 years), though the new HD 26 Pro should be equally as good. On BestReviewsBase.com are aso great for listening to detail in a mix.

I will recommend you Audio technica M50X if your budget is under 100. Because in the list of best headphones under 100 I found these headphones as one of the best headphones for me.

I would suggest you get involved in the best audio forums and look like professional headphone threads.

  1. Audio-Technica ATH-M20x

  2. SENNHEISER HD 202

Now I bougth and use almost 1 year is : beyerdinamic DT 990 PRO 250 Om , I like this clean sound )))
Not for monitoring but for mixing and mastering )))
