Web / Wordpress templates support

I was wondering how the support for web / Wordpress templates work when downloading through Envato Elements?

Buying the same template would cost me 59$ when buying through ThemeForest but if downloading it from Elements it’s half the price. Does the support for the template end if I end the monthly billing? How does the developer of the template make money if I can download it straight from Elements?

Elements also does not come with updates as regular purchases do
