This error occurs when the file you are trying to upload into WordPress is not a valid theme file. Please go back to your downloads page and download the theme again, making sure to select “Installable WordPress file only.”
If you don’t see this option, then you may have purchased an item which is not compatible with WordPress. I would suggest contacting the author of the item you purchased to see if they offer a WordPress version and can help you exchange it.

Hi @kedigeindia , As you have received the theme from free files on the month (January) you have to unzip the the download zip then you will find the theme zip which you have to install. Also you will get documentation folder, read the documentation you will get more help.

Since 2012, I am using the Wp-Themes and I have been installing the zip file…through hosting control penal . the above message has been shown while Installing new wp theme…

Hi,
As I have mentioned in my previous reply. You have to install only the theme zip.
You have to install the theme zip not the full download zip. Please unzip the main full download (All files & documentation) and then locate the installable theme file within it. Luckily most developers clearly label their files, so it should be pretty easy to find.
